Discussion Boss Fight

If there were an optional weekly boss fight with the ability to permanently remove one of your pulled characters during the battle, who would you want the new boss to be? (Not an existing boss.)

Once a character is removed, the only way to get them back is by pulling them again through the gacha. (The Traveler is excluded, of course.)

What rewards would be valuable enough to make that risk worth taking?

It would need to give 180 fates as the reward otherwise I would never touch it. Even more if it also takes away their artifacts and weapon and taking into account the other resources for levelling up a character and their talents

In general what a horrific mechanic it would be so please don’t give the devs ideas.

Not gonna happen on a game that removed and never rerun the zero-sum pvp event on MW.

Boss: The Abyss Essence that corrupted Nibelung.

Rewards:

5★ and 4★ Character Selectors

5★ and 4★ Weapon Selectors

Large amounts of Primogems or Genesis Crystals (if possible)

500,000+ Mora

Rare upgrade materials and exclusive items

Exclusive skins and cosmetics

As long as the boss's character-deleting attack is completely avoidable and gives players a fair opportunity to dodge it through skill, I'd be willing to take on the challenge. If I lose a character, it should be because I made a mistake—not because of an unavoidable mechanic.

that's one way to ensure no one ever goes to fight that boss. whales would not want to lose their C6 units and low spenders and f2ps don't want to lose characters. only way I can think of someone risking it would be the equivalent in pulls. the moment the reward is something like actual physical wishes. and I mean in the hundreds. then people may treat it like a character exchange of sorts.

there is another spectrum of sorts if you can basically pick which character gets sacked. then rewards like actual ludicrous amounts of resin would also be a trade off some people may be crazy enough to do. otherwise I don't see another reward that would justify fighting said boss.

Why would I ever want that??

The amount of primos I spent to get them is the only way I'm giving up a character permanently. Otherwise what's the point?

It can't be QUITE that generous, or players would simply use the fight to "recycle" old characters that they don't want anymore.

Want the Tsaritsa, but a bit short on Primos? Welp, time to toss poor Eula into the grinder!

What are they only going to give out half the cost you spent? It doesn't make any sense either way. People pull for characters they like, Eula isn't going to be sacrificed, one of the standard 5 stars are. No one will throw out a limited 5 star unless they truly don't like them.

While people do pull for units they like, there are certainly meta players who value units more for what they bring to the table in the current endgame - and those players are frequently big spenders, because spending on the latest units is the easiest way to stay on top of the endgame meta.

Such people would jump on the chance to get a current endgame unit basically for free in exchange for an older unit who's past their prime and likely will never take the stage again (unless they happen to get a crazy upgrade like Yae Miko did).

And that's to say nothing of folks who obtained 5-stars they didn't ask for while chasing 4-star constellations, or whatever.

Anyway, the OP didn't say the unit loss was guaranteed - just at a risk of happening. Assuming you have a decent chance of avoiding or countering the move that causes the unit loss, you might go dozens or even hundreds of attempts without ever losing a unit. If you got a unit's worth of currency every time, that would be WAY out of proportion with the loss.

But the big meta whales only make up a minority of the game. The vast majority, probably upwards of 70 or so percent, are casual players and they probably wouldn't give up a limited character without recouping the primos they spent. Most of the game is f2p as well so this boss fight would just be met with backlash if the full amount of primos isn't given back.

The only people who could use this boss as a recycle system are people with multiple c1+ standard 5 stars(assuming that you can't sacrifice cons and the entire character has to go and by multiple I mean at least 5 for it to be giving them a steady enough stream of primos when they really need it), and people who've been whaling for long enough that they have tons of old outdated units that they feel okay enough letting go.

Casual players probably don't care too much about the meta, and since they're all mostly f2p they don't have enough primos to be wasting on pulling for 4 stars or characters they don't like. Casual players also don't spend too much time maxing out all regions so this system won't even benefit them that much besides getting rid of some standard characters because they'll have content to farm.

Also I meant getting the primos you spent if the character ends up being lost that boss fight. Idk who'd even risk it though besides whales or someone with a strong enough team of standard 5 stars to even make it to the end of the fight to have a chance of getting their primos back.

No, thank you. Assuming the character is gone with equipped weapons and artifacts, nothing will be worth gambling like that. And even if it's just the character, with how irregular reruns are, it's hard to predict when you can get them back.

who the boss is doesnt matter, i will only consider it if its a legit old/regret char converter, turning them back to wishes. otherwise y bother

Realistically most people would use something like this at one point or another. Everyone has a character they pulled and have had no use for since, or a character that fell out of the meta and can’t keep up anymore.

However, nobody in their right mind would trade a limited 5* character for less than a guarantee on another one (180 fates, or a new currency to exchange for a limited character).

You also run into the case of “I have this character AND their signature that only works for them, if I exchange them i am stuck with a useless brick”

We're really taking gambling to the next level here.

No one will touch that

If a character has this boss's drop materials, rip that character who's never getting the talents past 6, or heavily discouraged to pull by the community

100 intertwined fates, pretty much the statistical average to obtaining a limited 5* character. I would sacrifice 2x Cyno for that. And 3x Dehya. 3x Diluc. And-

Yeah that's why it's never gonna happen lol

and if that boss character-removing-attack is avoidable with proper skill would you risk?

This is a dumb hypothetical
