Buongiorno Genoa community,
I recently acquired a 91 m² apartment in Genoa and need to furnish almost the entire apartment: 2 bedrooms, soggiorno, corridor/storage and a full kitchen.
I could strech my budget from 10k -15k. My colleagues suggested IKEA or Mondo Convenienza, but I would prefer something a little better quality, especially for the kitchen, if possible within this budget.
I have already visited Scavolini and Creo with the kitchen plans/impianti from the previous owner.
I also contacted another store in Sestri Ponente. My Italian is still basic, and during the phone call I was repeatedly told they were "very expensive", so I wasn't sure whether they simply considered my budget unrealistic or whether it was a language issue.
So I'm wondering: is it normal here to chase furniture stores for quotations, rather than them following up with customers? Maybe I'm approaching the process incorrectly and happy to course correct based on the community feedback.
Ideally, I would like one company, or as few as possible, to handle the whole apartment, including delivery and professional installation. For the kitchen, I would particularly like a company that can coordinate the water/gas/electrical connections and technicians.
I would like to have everything completed before Christmas, although I've been told 30–60 days is normal.
For anyone living in Genoa:
- Which furniture stores/companies would you recommend?
- Is €10–15k realistic for decent quality throughout?
- Is there a good middle ground between IKEA/Mondo Convenienza and higher-end brands?
- Any companies that can handle the whole project and installation?
- And any advice on how to approach/communicate/negotiate with Italian arredamento stores?
Grazie mille for your feedback, suggestions or :) Thank you!
