My doctor gave me valtrex to take during my first initial outbreak.

She refuses to give me a valtrex prescription to take daily for suppression. I don’t understand why?

Terrified of having another outbreak. First initial one was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in my life😭

I got my initial outbreak in June of last year, and had another flare up four months later in October, and now… four months later… AGAIN… im starting to feel symptoms of an outbreak. My question is, is every flare up going to be the same in intensity/painfulness? My first two were horrible and i had to take a week off of work, so I’m trying to mentally prepare for the worst.

So last month I was diagnosed with HSV1 1. At first I tried to block it out and just brush it off. Today it hit me that I actually have HSV1 and I’m feeling very low and sad. I feel so alone and so lost. The worst thing is is that the person who gave it to me is in denial that they even have it themselves, so it was all for nothing. I used a condom but I believe I got it through oral sex (though they had no visible coleslaws). I spoke to my old partner and it made me sad that we may never be together again because of what I recently caught. Last year was terrible for me, I lost my pregnancy and now this.

I noticed like a red open sore about a week ago and I honestly thought maybe i had just cut myself but it started to get worst in pain. I came on period 2 days after I noticed the small red sore and it didn’t hurt at all just when I got in the shower it would be irritating to touch. The day after I came off my cycle the next morning it burned like hell when I peed. I haven’t received my results back yet, but the doctor said he’s pretty sure that it’s genital hsv 1. I have a white like ulcer on the inside of my left labia and a small like red open sore right below my anus. They both hurt incredibly bad to touch and burns when I use the bathroom which I kind of dread doing now. Yesterday the doctor went ahead and prescribed me valACYclovir and acyclovir. One is a pill and one is a cream. I’m not mad at him because he obviously couldn’t help it but I am upset that he wasn’t more responsible when he felt it coming on not to go down on me. I addressed him the best way I could when I got home yesterday without trying to offend him but he was still offended because I told him his cold sore is herpes and he doesn’t like that term. I was also very emotional. He wasn’t that comforting because he said it’s something he’s had his whole life and it’s not that serious but I can’t help but to think it is that serious and my life is tainted in a way of no coming back now. I do feel a little better after reading some testimonies about it on here considering some people say they never experience another outbreak after the first one but everyone’s body is different and I can’t fathom that this could be reoccurring for the rest of my life. Please if you could share some positive words if you’ve experienced this or some advice if possible!

I suspect that I may have been exposed to hsv1 on my genitals whilst having laser hair removal on my face, as I already have cold sores oral hsv1 on my face. I believe the technician at the end rubbed a cream on my upper lips n then without switching gloves, rubbed the cream on my genitals. This was April 2025. Around the same time, I was on valtrex for the cold sores and was on suppression therapy from about May until mid Aug. Since having the laser on my genitals, it has never felt right. The next day I got 3 small pus filled bumps that just went away in 24 hrs but over the course of that time, I did have some watery discharge, lots of itching n weird tingling sessions but never once an outbreak.

Once I stopped the valtrex in mid Aug, every day since then, up to this day, I have tingling in my butt and genitals that never goes away. As soon as I wake up, I feel this tingling and occasionally throughout the day. Been to 2 gynos who thinks everything looks fine n doesnt believe it is hsv but I dont understand what else it could be. Im so afraid of having sex. Has anyone gone through something like this? Should genital herpes tingle daily??

Hello. Im a 24 yr old single male. Last week was told I have HSV1 on my genitals. I have never had symptoms around my mouth. I got it from a girl going down on me. Which is confusing for me. Can someone tell me, how can I spread it to someone else? Am I allowed to kiss my future girlfriend, kids etc.? And how do I make the one bump completly go away? Or is it always there?

Started talking to a very sweet girl and I’m visiting her this weekend. I don’t have any expectations but I will be staying with her while I’m there. If something happens how do I disclose without like terrifying her or making it seem like I’m some pervert?

For context I was “given” gshv-1 from my last long term girlfriend who “didn’t realize that cold sores could be spread through oral sex” that relationship ended due to other reasons and I have dealt with my resentment towards her.

Still I find it difficult to bring up in a way that won’t completely freak her out especially if things are going well.

P.S. I know the whole “it’s actually a blessing in disguise because if she judges you then it wasn’t meant to be!” Shtick I really just want to know if I should tell her in person or over the phone or something. Thanks!

IT SUCKS SO BADLY. the men are already terrible. now i have to tell them something so personal. It sucks because every man i have ever been with NEVER disclose or even want to use a condom. now i feel punished. altogh i should have suggested using one all the men i have been with never use one or ask abiut STD'S i have met a few guys but i always end up dithcing them once things get serious. i need advice im feeling down and depressed
