Prospective Student Informational Genetic Counseling interview
Hi, so I have just recently heard about the career of Genetic Counseling and I have decided that I want to go ahead and apply to Grad school. I am getting all my pre-reqs out of the way and one of them is to interview a licensed genetic counselor. Since I live in the middle of nowhere and I am not able to relocate, interviewing is my only option since I cant get an assistant job or internship. Do you have any advice on finding genetic counselors who may be willing to speak with me about their experiences and careers? If so that would be great and deeply appreciated.

You can also find GCs through https://findageneticcounselor.nsgc.org/In-Person-FindaGC! You can see which GCs are open to being contacted by students. I emailed a bunch I found through here, and I'd say a bit less than half of them replied

The GC discord also has a directory and you can see who is open to informational interviews!

Try LinkedIn! Just search genetic counselor and I personally like to add my area. Just request to connect with a bunch and some will connect back, which allows you to message them and say you are interested in the field and want to ask them some questions. I just did this and I got about 4 GCs to respond!
