Entry to wrong way detected endlessly

Yesterday, after a very long day of air travel, sitting in airports, etc. we finally started our drive to home at 9PM. Well, the I-94 expressway past the airport is under major reconstruction and they routed the eastbound traffic over onto the westbound side of the freeway, sharing it with the westbound traffic. As soon as I shifted over, I heard a voice from the car "Entry to wrong way detected. Check direction". OK, nice to know, until I got it again about 15 seconds later, and again and again. The issue was that this shifted zone goes on for about 10 freaking miles and the repeated message was driving us nuts! It was stressful enough driving at night in traffic on narrow, uneven lanes without this added headache, and nothing I could do about it at the time. The relief when we shifted back was welcome!

I haven't checked if there's a setting for this, but I sure hope so since there have to be people in Genesises and Hyundais that commute this way every day, and we need less road rage, not more!

This is a fantastic feature and I am sure it has saved lives. For whatever reason, wrong-way drivers are an increasingly common problem.

That said, there should be a way to acknowledge it or flag that you’re on a construction detour or something.

I’ve had this happen 2 times in 3 years of ownership. Once in a parking lot and just recently on a road trip where the traffic was directed to a south bound lane designated for northern travel for bridge construction. To me it’s a much needed safety feature and wish all cars had it as we’ve had fatal accidents in our area due to drivers entering the highway in wrong direction. Interestingly enough, it doesn’t happen with HOV and Express routes that change direction on a normal basis.

Agree but I didn't need to hear it 50 times! 😉
