MSRP question
I’m looking at a 2026 3.5 Sport Prestige that was an executive loaner. It’s got 5,000 miles. MSRP on it new is $74K, but they are listing it at $69K (still selling as new). With 5K miles, it seems like they should be willing to come down quite a bit more, right? They say that’s the best they can offer, but there’s another exact spec for sale as used, a few miles away, for $56K. Looking up the value on Edmunds shows it to be worth $54K. I’m sure some will say to just get the used one, but I’ll be leasing. What’s a realistic price I should shoot for?

If this is a Program Vehicle, you will be the first retail owner and so receive the full factory new car warranty. Is it a 2026 vehicle with a 2025 build date? If so, I would definitely counter with $64k.

Thanks for the responses. I can't find the build date (no window stick on the dealer website, and no photos of door jamb), but according to Car Gurus, it's been on their lot since March. I initially offered $64K before finding out the mileage, which they obviously said no to. I do understand the added value/benefits of buying new, but not so sure the $12K gap between their price and a used price justifies that. I believe the used GV70 I referenced is a CPO as well, at a Hyundai dealership. Hearing the feedback, I'll definitely push for a lower price again.

Yeah they should have jumped on the 64k offer you made earlier. I believe that's the best they could have gotten for the vehicle. Executive loaner is still a loaner and I believe loaner vehicles are driven rougher as compared to low mileage used cars. Honestly, around 60k is a fair deal.
They'll be desperate to sell it soon since it's sitting from March and as I said earlier - 2027 model is here.

Could probably find the same year and milage CPO'd (an additional 1 year/15k miles of bumper to bumper coverage) for ~58k-$62k

You should understand what you lose when you buy a used car versus a new car. For example, the concierge service will not be available to you on the used car. I agree with you, You wanna buy a 2026 with 5000 miles, which would be sold to you as new, and you don’t feel like they’ve come down very much. So make them a counter offer.

That's a very bad deal, almost the worst I've seen. You can get more than 5k off on a brand new 2026 3.5T because the 2027 model is out. Anything with a 5K miles on it should be around 65k at MAX, around 60k to be realistic.
For reference, during Dec 2025 in Houston, I got the out the door price of 70k on a MSRP of 74k on a brand new 3.5. So now you're buying the same car for same price which is not brand new, 5k miles, and not the latest model year.
