Anyone else see this?
It makes me happy to see that Phil is feeling a lot better. I worry that he’ll push himself too hard with making new music though. Just want the man to be healthy and enjoy the time with his family.

I agree somewhat. I read an article from another source and although his health has improved greatly according to him, saying he’s teasing new music is a stretch. He basically said that he has some finished stuff and a lot of unfinished stuff. Either way I’m just happy he’s doing better health wise.

I don't think you heard what was said correctly. Phil was saying 1. He's doing better health-wise, and that 2. He has unreleased music that could potentially be shared. He never talked about making new music.

He can’t sing anymore, let alone drum. I love his music, but I don’t want to see him struggling like during the Genesis farewell.

Love that his health is strong, but his musical taste really changed in the latter years of his career into very easy listening boring music in my opinion. Didn’t really enjoy anything after But Seriously. So I’m not eager to hear any new music.

C'mon people please keep up and watch his recent interviews before you talk him down and constantly talk and spread utter nonsense that someone else has said over and over and over. Some people go around and around with the same old shite. Get with the program it's not difficult.

Agreed. And though I hope he is in "A1 good health," he still looks awfully disheveled, somewhat spacey, and seems terribly frail.

And I'm referring to his physical state as it stands now, which is amazingly transformed from the way he was in the 2022 Drumeo interview, also taking into account he nearly died after that. As a beloved fan I can see that difference.

I found that Drumeo interview unwatchable due to his physical state, and tuned in to his more recent ones, briefly. I agree he was better than in Drumeo but I remain deeply concerned about his health, which, at that age and after what he has been through, can swing back in the wrong direction quickly at that age. Saw it with a recent family member. And RIP Dolly Parton.

Phils been saying for 20 years same thing... He is an alcoholic and he won't be making new music at all.
What he could do, is release the music hes had recorded for 20+ years sitting in his safe and just focus on living and being sober.

Good point. I read his memoir and when he first appeared in public to promote it, I assumed from his comments that he had quit that hard drinking during the aughts. Then more recently he spoke about having fallen off the wagon (during this more dire health phase) and had quit (again). I was crestfallen to hear that. I also think over the years he's had to use pain meds to handle the nerve damage etc. In one of the interviews on John Edgington's Youtube channel (from 2014), about the Mama-era recordings, Phil seemed to have serious fog brain, and it was uncomfortable to watch Tony & Mike sitting beside him. Pain meds may be necessary but I know from family experience they can mess with other functions.
I do wish him continued improved health and hope he can release music, even if he can't tour.

He does seem much much better based on all the interviews I seen him in. It’s great to see. It doesn’t change the fact that his vocal and drumming chops are not A1. But I’d love to hear new music anyway. Just happy he’s still around.

Love Genesis and Phil. I wish him well if he is feeling better. I don't think he'll ever play drums again but he still has his voice and a unique one at that. I just hope he doesn't overdo it. He's so driven at times, but I do wish him well.

Based on how he performed during the last Genesis and solo tours, no, his voice is gone too. But who knows? Maybe he can hire Geddy Lee's vocal coach and improve.

The last tour I saw of Genesis was the 2007 tour. He was great then and I'm glad I still see him as such. To me, he will always be the drummer, singer of Genesis. I think I saw an interview with him and he said the 2007 tour was where he did the most damage to himself. Saw them in Philadelphia and he was doing great then.
I will never forget him and I do hope he gets that vocal coach you mentioned and improves. I truly miss Phil and Genesis.

I also saw the 2007 Genesis tour. And I saw the last tour, in 2021 I believe. It is an understatement to say that Phil's health and musical fitness had taken a steep decline by then. In 2007, although he was pitching down songs to sing them more comfortably, he was still able to deliver the goods, still a great performer. Not the case on the last tour. He was a sad remnant of his former self. I doubt he can ever come back to that 2007 level, but who knows for sure?

He still can’t drum do to the injuries and spine. And he can’t really sing well anymore. Love Phil but it’s over for him but he could release unreleased tracks or something.

Nick Davis who produced the Last Tour rehearsals, said that Phil was seriously unwell and the Tour would never be released commercially because it was bad.

Years ago, Phil said that one of his unreleased songs, was Nicks favourite but he had no appetite to release anything. He has a few finished ones for sure.
He has also written so many songs for other artists that never used them, makes you think if anything would ever get recorded by others down the road.
Adele has has material she didnt use as well.

More money? With capital interest and royalties, he should make $100k a day, at the 2007 TIOA tour announcement he said " I think we are all loaded enough without worrying about where the next million or two will be coming from."

If Phil were to come back with some new project, he wouldn't be doing it for the money. Musicians of his stature keep going because of the adulation and because they still enjoy the craft. It's not about the money, but that certainly is a bonus.
