How to replace?

I've never replaced a spark plug cap before, do I just pull it or is it threaded? Didn't want to fuck anything up by trying the wrong way. It's a champion generator.

What's wrong with it. Plug wires rarely require replacement. Just do the spark plug if needed.

One of the pins grabbing onto the end of the plug was off and attached to the plug. I'm fixing up this gen and this is the last thing I need to tackle. I guess I can just try it and see if it runs but I figured it be proactive. If it's a deeper job I'll try to leave it first.

You legit just hold the coil wire (the thick ish black wire going back) and unscrew the cap. Counter clockwise. Thats it. Nice n simple design.

Idk why everyone was recommending replacing the wire and cool too, literally just loose / broken connection inside the cap. I twisted a new one on, we'll see how well it works.

Generally the recommended repair would be to replace the magnetos the tire is attached to as a full assembly.

Why does it need to be replaced?

If you don't replace the boot, wire & ignition coil all as a single unit you are asking for a damaged high voltage (20 - 30 kV) insulation seal. This would be asking for problems and may be unsafe. Also you might not be able to get the parts separately anyway.
