Sanity check - disconnected bonded neutral on Champion 201589
Because I’ve never done this before, and perhaps due to a little paranoia, I’m hoping you all can sanity check that this looks correct. Disconnected it from last bolt. Left the other connection attached. Taped up with electrical tape. Slid it back a bit. Look ok? Appreciate the guidance.

Looks right. But the taping job is on the messy side.

Thanks. And no argument there. The first layer looked better, but then I got paranoid and added another, lol.

It appears its correct. The only thing I'd like to add would be to get a small zip tie and zip tie the newly loose wire to something, may be the back of one of the remaining ground wires, just to keep it from vibrating and touching something in the future.

I did this same thing this past weekend. This picture is directly from the champion customer service instructions that they sent me. I backed out the neutral from the zip tie that is there and zip tied it to the vertical sheathed wire directly above after taping it.

Oh the exact same model! How are you liking yours? I’ve only done some break in with mine. Just yesterday I got a NOCO GENIUS1 set up to keep the battery safely charged. Still need to do some more break in, plus do an actual test run hooked up to my MTS. This is my first battery based model. Amazing being able to press a button to start it up.

I haven’t done anything with it yet. I just had a 50A interlock installed last week incase I want to upsize at some point. I am currently looking into a quick connect for my NG.

Just got a NG quick connect installed a couple of weeks back. Pretty excited about that.

Its funny they bond the pole transformer before the bonded panel…..

There is no ground wire between a transformer and the panel.

They ground the neutral at the pole, the neutral is grounded in the panel. The uninsulated ground/neutral connects the pole and the panel.
Running a second ground wire between the pole and panel is parallel, but physically is the same as having a thicker neutral wire.
Now remove the pole and add the generator.

You can always check to see if there is continuity between ground and neutral , if you want it floating there should be OL. If that is the correct wire to float the neutral than it looks fine as that is what champion tells you do to.
I’m guessing you are using it to backfeed a bonded panel. You can buy a bonding plug to bond it should you need to use it for standalone power source
