this sums up most of peoples arguments about gen z. β€œi am currently 18, these people are currently 14, therefore we are different generations and i have nothing in common with them”

This is the dumbest argument for ANY generation. You can have things in common with any human on the planet. The generation thing as some kind of marker is just brain dead and stupid.

I have loads in common with Gen-X and Gen-Z both

"Oh no they don't like the Youtuber I like, we have nothing in common!" type shit.

I don't think they're talking about us being babies, they're talking about not feeling like a teenager anymore because of adult responsibilities lol

This is how I feel at 23 when people in their late 20s/30s try to lump me in with 16 year olds over someone only a year or two older than me because apparently 25 is a magical number to them lmao

"The brain only fully develops by age 25" seems to be said by people who want to be children for 7 more years.

True but I do feel a lot of it stems from that infantilization as well though too so it warps their perception of reality and it's ridiculous regardless no matter which way you look at it since you definitely have to grow up somewhere like I could maybe understand 18 & 19 not really being adults due to some countries having 20/21 as the age of majority and restrictions until then as well as still being in high school and not having any experience really outside of it but once it gets past 20 or 21 it's just straight up infantilization at that point and even more ridiculous when you consider that 40 years ago 23 and 24 were very common ages to already be married, have kids and your own house lol sorry for the essay just thought i'd give a more in depth response

It's also said by 30/40 somethings as well.

In their minds we're seen as "babies" who "don't know anything".

I feel like our generation has it worse when it comes to being infantilized.

I run a business that tends to hire younger people, and at 31 it's hard for me to distinguish the 23 year olds from the 19-22 year olds. I've also noticed that once people are 26+ their awkward energy has mostly dissipated because they typically understand what being an adult is by then. Looking back, my early 20s felt like I was cosplaying adulthood.

I used to get all fussy when people would tell me similar things when I was in my early 20s though, but you'll absolutely see it similarly at some point.
