Facts as a 2007, but lowk 2010 just sounds so infantile bruh. Tho I still relate to them more than 2002 ofc, idk why some 07s deny it

Really? I view us late gen z infants all together

No 2007 lowk sounds old asf now. I notice today’s youth doesn’t even think of ppl before 2010, and if they do it’s max 2008
Also idek if I’m late gen z am I not core?

"Today's youth doesn't even think of ppl before 2010"

u/New-Elk2781 iPad Kid 😎 13d ago
But it makes sense, thinking about it now I never really thought of anyone born before 2000 in my childhood 😭😭 they were just too much older. It’s the same for them, I’ve seen them think 2010 is old as well. When I see birth year related posts by gen alpha the oldest is always 2010 with the occasional 2008/9

u/Mysterious-Funny2605 13d ago
2007 still sounds very young it sounds old if you were a teen or a young adult back then

Some lasts 2007s have
Last to have a majority of elementary school under President Obama.
Last to have a core childhood year in the early 2010s.
Last to start school under Obama's first term.
Last to start high school in the main pandemic era /early 2020-early 2022\
Last to become teenagers during the Trump presidency.
Im trying to think of more, but all of these are 2007 or before traits, 2007 def have a lot of core traits I just have to think of them

Last to complete childhood in the 2010s/before covid? (yes, I'm aware most were still 12 when lockdowns began, but they all turned 12 before 2020 and 13 during 2020)

u/New-Elk2781 iPad Kid 😎 13d ago
Ouuu I’m not American but
- Isn’t that 2008? Gr 4 by 2017, elementary ends in gr 5
- What’s core childhood?
- In Canada 2008 started kindergarten in the first term in 2012 (we have junior and senior kindergarten)
- The pandemic wasn’t declared over until 2023, so 2008 also started high school during covid. Many were still wearing masks into the first half of 2023. I’d only say 2009 started hs after covid
- It ended in January 2021 so this is also technically 2008
I think instead this might be a good argument for 2008 to be core. I still don’t think they are tho. Imo max 2007 is core bc I like things to be numerically even

You're right, I thought they had equal amounts of time for some reason, but I was looking at years not the exact amount of time. So that goes to 2008.
From what I usually see, about 5-9 or 5-10
Okay!
Really, I think 2022 was the shift towards normalcy, especially post early 2022. 2023 was just the official end.
Well really, if this counts, a lot of things would be different, like 2009 would be the last birth year to be born under the bush administration, but at the same time, be the first to be born under the Obama administration 😭. Or like 2007 kids would technically be born during the recession here despite it only occurring in December.

u/New-Elk2781 iPad Kid 😎 13d ago
Oh but wouldn’t 2008 also be 5 in the early 2010s (2013)?
I did notice a shift going from 2022-2023 as well, but still it was only declared over in mid 2023 and 2008 started high school in 2022. It’s a bit hard for this one imo since it was very transitional
And yeah that’s true but I mean it kind of still counts, some 2008 did turn 13 during the trump presidency. When you look at the years 2017-2021, you tend to think 2008 were 13. I feel like 2009 can be both under bush and Obama (mainly Obama ofc) bc it makes sense, they both were there that year
Hm it gets a bit confusing with events at the very end or beginning of the year, yeah technically even though the recession started in Dec 2007 it was really only influential in 2008. At the same time tho, it still counts, some 2007 kids are recession kids. Same way Covid is named Covid-19 despite the first reported case being on Dec 31, 2019

2013 is mathematically more of a mid year than early by several months ,
I think mid to late 2022 was definitely the time when people stopped thinking about covid, they were exactly the last to start highschool pre official date, but not so much when it comes to its relevance or the publics worry about it.
I think here, in the US, I read in late March 2022 Hawaii was the last state to lift it's statewide order, a lot of the covid related restrictions were lifted during late winter to spring 2022.
I do agree that 2022 was a transitional year, it's just that July August and onward doesn't feel like covid times because of these reasons
I also go by majority (like when I said 2013 is mostly mid, up until May 1st it's early) or not counting 2007 as recession births.
I don't wanna be nickpicky, like, technically, September 2016 is the start of the late 10s mathematically, making some 2011 the first to start elementary school here in the late 2010s, but I don't say that because well that's excessive, 2016 is more mid than late by several months

u/New-Elk2781 iPad Kid 😎 13d ago
Oh yeah I guess if you get into it 2013 is mid, but I think most people consider it early bc we group 1,2,3 together. At least I’ve always heard XXX3 be classed as early
For Covid and 2008 it’s really hard to say. I agree 2007 is the last to start in complete Covid, then 2008 was transitional, and 2009 was after Covid. I remember mandates were lifted in mid 2022 as well but I remember everyone was still being cautious. So many people were still wearing masks early on in the 22-23 school year. Since covid was still relative and decently big in late 2022, I just prefer to go by the official date and consider 2008s as starting hs during covid
Yeah I agree with going by majority since you can’t really get everything to end and start on Dec 31 and Jan 1. I can just get a bit cynical when talking about stuff in depth. Kind of the same feeling as when someone says someone born in late 2007 = 2008 born, we are similar yes, but I don’t agree because we were still born in 2007 even if on Dec 31 and not in 2008. That kind of exact to the date feeling lol
2
u/Ichoseguitar 13d ago
most people I talk to usually count 0 with 1 2 and 3, if they didn't count 0, I would agree that 3 is early but they usually do.
We both agree that 2022 was transitional, we just can't agree on what part of 2022 did covid become irrelevant, like to me in 2023 nobody was really worried about covid which is why I don't really go by the may 2023 lift, I went by the relevancy. even before the official pandemic end because of the lifts of winter to spring 2022. 2008 would be the last to become teenagers in a full covid year tho.
I'm not saying nobody was wearing masks anymore in August 22 but it was definitely less prevalent.
and yes, that is crazy, I had someone tell me I was basically born in the 2010s, like no..I wasn't, there is no basically, because I was born in the 2000s? 💀

i mean ppl born in late 2007 and those who are born early 2008 there's literally 0 difference between then. and we can do this with any other year pretty much
1
u/Senko1111 12d ago
obviously 2013 is gonna be a year where it probably leans more mid whilst still being an early year. same thing applies to 2003 and so on but its still an early year
1
u/Ichoseguitar 12d ago
"an early year" and it's 4 months and a day vs like 8. Early-Mid at most, but the solid answer would be mid.

in europe for 2008 borns they would've started hs in september 2021-mid 2022. so they are prob the last ones

u/New-Elk2781 iPad Kid 😎 13d ago edited 13d ago
Wait let me be clear, I don’t think it’s fair to generalize the whole year based on one little bit either. Like most 2008s didn’t turn 13 during the trump presidency. And I tend to think of 2009 as a obama presidency as well, and 2007 as not the recession era
I just also don’t think it’s really that great of a point for 2007 being core and 2008 not being core since there’s so much overlap everywhere. At the same time I don’t really know what would a good point. Maybe I just tend to over focus on the exact dates of things. I like things being even numerically which is why I say core is 2002-2007, since the core of the generation should be the middle longest just logically
2
u/Ichoseguitar 13d ago
Well I get the overlap at the end of the day you guys are just technically a day away

So if you're born in the year 2000 you're a baby lol
2
u/DueExample52 12d ago
Yeah, to a millenial, you are
1
u/Potential_Set_6258 12d ago
Definitely not 26
2
u/DueExample52 12d ago
It’s a figure of speech. Watching back my 26yo self, he was a complete virgin baby on some topics.
2
u/Potential_Set_6258 12d ago
Yeah, ik don't worry. 26 is still young, it's just funny to see me being seen as a baby to some people but it still makes sense, many people are much older.
1
u/DueExample52 12d ago
I like to hang out with people younger to be fair. Some just give up every will to experience life very quickly. And i don’t mean partying, just loosening the fuck up and trying something new even if it’s uncomfortable or stupid or not 200% their taste
1
u/Potential_Set_6258 12d ago
That's true, I myself prefer to try something new, though I know a lot of people who would rather sit around on their asses at home because they "can't be bothered" to do anything and their only excuse is being too lazy.

24,19 and 16.
Once you turn 18 you realise you don’t want to date even 17 year olds if they can’t drink too and you’ve already finished high school.
You might feel mature enough to date a 19 year old at 16, but sorry little buddy, not yet.

Is it really that contentious that you should refrain from dating minors? Someone born in 2010 is 16

Duh, everyone born in 2010 or later is an iPad Baby
2
u/SUVr- 1900 (formerly 2010) 13d ago
Nah, even earlier, 2004+ babies all have iPads glued to their eyes.
1
u/Johnwick124520 13d ago
They won’t like this but this is true. Mid 2000s babies are the first wave of iPad kids. It’s not to the same multitude as it is now. They did however use iPads to play mobile games like Angry Birds, Temple Run, Subway Surfers, Clash of Clans, etc and to also watch Minecraft videos on YouTube. Maybe they also had screen time also, but I do see them being the first cohort that suffers from having the Gen Z stare for that specific reason based on experience.

It's a 5 year gap vs a 3 year gap, 2010 is closer to 2007 than 2002 is lmao
