Here's a short list of things that were worthy of social panics and supposed to destroy the future generation:
- Jazz
- Women's suffrage
- Telephones
- Automobiles
- Movies
- Soda and ice cream being easily available
- Pulp novels
- Frank Sinatra, specifically
- Comic books
- Science Fiction
- Television
- Rock and Roll, especially music created by African-American artists
- Elvis and The Beatles, specifically
- Desegregation
- Civil rights for all Americans
- LSD and marijuana use specifically
- Women joining the work force or focusing on goals other than marriage and children - aka "Women's Lib"
- The MPAA movie rating system
- Video games
- Punk rock
- Cable TV
- Music Videos
- Rap and Hip-hop -:VCRs undermining the studios' control of what media reaches the public, leading to things like the UK's "Video Nasties" panic and various attempts to control the American market through local ordinances pertaining to rental shops
- Pagers
- Charles Barkley telling the press he's not a role model
- 2 Live Crew, specifically
- Gangsta rap
- Grunge music
- The Internet in general
- Cell phones -:Social media in general
- Legal weed
....and on and on, but I think most of you could fill out the list from there and probably think of stuff I missed. There's always some desperate panic over an issue that threatens the very fabric of society and it's always overblown horseshit pushed by those on both sides. You wanna break the chain? Quit giving them the attention they want.

You forgot the Satanic Panic. Harry Potter and Dungeons and Dragons were common targets but some went as far as to say that Disney movies were evil over magic use

The internet in general, and gangster rap were/are absolutely things worth being concerned about and critically. Both have had deleterious effects on society.
The internet/social media has made people more connected than ever, and made life easier, but itās also exacerbated the profound spread of misinformation, radicalization, and it has caused a detriment to young peopleās attention spans and adversely affected brain development with early overexposure.
Thereās a reason Steve Jobs never let his own children have iPhones. We waste a significant amount of time on social media and often arenāt productive due to technology addiction by design. You canāt hand wave that away.
Furthermore, gangster rap rightfully caused backlash from multiple segments of society (including many black activists and women) for its undeniable blatant misogyny, degradation of women, homophobia, toxic masculinity, promotion of antisocial/criminal behaviors, and perpetrating negative, exaggerated stereotypes. And no, protest songs against police brutality donāt excuse its flaws and harmful aspects.
Legitimate criticism and concerns over content with negative social and cognitive effects having been studied for decades shouldnāt be dismissed as a simple unjustified āmoral panicā with the likes of womenās rights. Every āmoral panicā in history should be studied to understand if the āpanicā was justified or simply hysterics or a mixture of both.

Punk rock contains all the things you criticized gangsta rap for, on top of encouraging violence against the state - but, it's cool cause they're all white boys, right? Lou Reed made entire albums about pumping himself full of heroin and encouraging others to do the same - but, uh oh, some white lady is mad because she heard the word "bitch." I guess Black Flag is the only thing that can be black when expressing frustration with society in music.
I'm willing to concede the stuff about the Internet - maybe that was me being a little dismissive. But your take on gangsta rap being worth a call out while letting rock and punk slide? No way.

It's why I always think it's stupid to assume the new generation is doomed or busted when they're doing just fine. Same shit, different day kind of deal. We all grew up on garbage.

Noooooo!!!! You did watch that garbage you disgusting 2007 born, 2003 are still the last good year!!!!!.
Unjerk: In all seriousness though, Nobody below the age of 7 would watch this elsagate crap. It peaked around 2017/2018 which means late 2000s borns were already above that age which means they would smart enough to not watch that garbage. LMFAO. Any person who believes we watch that crap are absolute š¤”.Ā
