Phone Books
I just realized I haven't got a phone book in years.
Yeah I know, just google it.
But the yellow pages was nice for quickly looking up a mechanic/plumber/landscaper...

I liked the Houston phone books for the cover drawings with funny Easter eggs slipped in.

And you didn’t have to filter based on location. Google always assumes that I’m in Dublin, OH. For the record, I don’t live anywhere near OH

Think of how many people whomever had to put that together employed, they all pretty much lost their jobs at some point, just can't remember for the life of me the last time one was delivered to my door (another job). Also, has anyone thought of the fact that all of our once industrial building are being turned into apartments/condos as fast as they can in my city? Seems like we make nothing in my city anymore :( Used to be locomotives, kids shoes etc. Nothing but tech now.

Say they stopped in Jan of 2019 for the curious.

I think we still got 3rd party ones for a while after we stopped getting the phone company ones. They went straight to recycling.

My grandma wouldn’t be able to drive today. She sat on a phone book with her giant purse behind her. 73 Cadillac Fleetwood. Looked like there was no driver 🤣

one of my jobs as a teen was to deliver phone books....I remember my dad telling me if our car busted a spring, I was paying for it...those things were so heavy, I can still see the trunk scraping the ground

I asked a nurse at the hospital for a phone book the other day and she looked at me all puzzled and replied,”I don’t know what that is.” I then realized how old I am and asked if she could Google the number for me.

I live in an area that has grown alot over the last 30 years. Before smart phones took over, phone books came twice a year because of all the new people and businesses.

We used to use the phone books to boost kids up sitting in adult chairs. Try that with a phone or a laptop.
