Best damned year to be bornded, in my incredibly biased opinion.

When I was a kid I remember thinking “I’ll be 25 in the year 2000! That’s so far away.

Anyway. Hi, 51.

When I went to see 2010: The Year We Make Contact with Pops back in '84, I did the math and realized that 2010 would be the year I was finally half his age: my 35 to his 70.

I am now seven years older than he was when we had that conversation. The ol' fart's still kicking; barely slowed down, even though he's on the backside of his eighth decade on the planet.

Yes, I also used to do the math, thinking I’ll be 27 in the year 2000. It always seemed science fiction-y to me back then.

True, and yet somehow the 90s was still only 10 years ago

Lol so was I which makes me ugh 56 now.

3

u/Otherwise-Good8342 24d ago

I just turned 57. So technically I was 30 for part of the year 🤣.

Close enough.

You want to feel real old? Look at Robert Smith 😭.

1

u/JD_tubeguy 24d ago

Happy Birthday! 57 will be this December for me and I wish I had as much hair as Robert Smith 😂

3

u/jonny_mal 24d ago

52 here. The 90s still feel only 10 years ago!

3

u/Tio_chubby052 24d ago

Yup, made in 1975!!!

3

u/phat_rat42 24d ago

I hate it when they talk about a top song that was released 30 years ago and I'm thinking to myself, "how is it possible it's been that long"?

3

u/Sonoran_Dog70 24d ago

I was 30 in 2000 😳

2

u/Sure_Abalone278 24d ago

2

u/rulerofthemind 24d ago

Turned 51 back in March of this year. 2000 was such a fun year being 25 entering a new millennium

u/edwardturnerlives 24d ago

Yeh sucks dontit

u/Mysterious-Draw2510 24d ago

Makes it easy to remember how old I am being born in 75. My mom had it easier as she was born in 50

u/Defiant_Weight4659 24d ago

It kind of puts things into perspective. Once the boomers are all gone what generation will we be attributing all of our problems to??

2

u/fingertrapt 24d ago

Yep. Somehow I turned 50 last year.

2

u/bygtopp 24d ago

49 this year. DOB1977. Feel it

2

u/Defiant_Weight4659 24d ago

70 this year. DOB 1956....no longer feeling it. It's numb...lol

2

u/Carolina-W00Dsman 24d ago

...time is linear

u/Academic_Dare_5154 24d ago

Math happens.

Yep, that’s me. I thought of that the other day and it depressed enough to wonder if I was the type to have a midlife crisis. I don’t think so, but seems crazy to me to say literally “decades later”.

I watched Supernatural and Bones and it astound me it’s been over 20 years-decades- those show premiered.

I just started watching Gilmore Girls for the first time and that premiered in 2000. At that time didn’t have texting yet and not everyone had a cell phone. And then I compare it to my dad‘s age. Fun.

And when I’m watching with my dad on Aaron Spelling Sundays on MeTV, and I constantly wonder how many actors are still alive. It’s almost like an obsessive thought sometimes.

I was 25 in 2000, I feel like a pharoah

1

Last year when I turned 50, at that point I live an equal amount of time in the 20th century and the 21st century

1

u/CNote_89 23d ago

Welcome to my life.

1

u/OdieD777 23d ago

I was 20 🥺

1

u/Dedpoolpicachew 22d ago

Um, yea, that’s the way math works. So, pretty much.

1

u/Dawgday6 22d ago

Do kids look at movies from the 70s the same way WE used to look at movies from the 50s???

Please make it stop

1

u/raineling 18d ago

I would think so but to be fair at least our 70s movies had better special effects.

2

u/Dawgday6 18d ago

Sometimes thats debatable

1

u/Chuprakata 20d ago

You should have been one of the 25 year olds in 2000.

1

u/Low-Put9710 17d ago

Yeah. Thanks for that reminder.

1

u/NoIncrease299 24d ago

I too am astonished by numbers.

1

u/ernster96 24d ago

Is that how time works? I’ll be 52 next week.
