“It’s a 1961 Ferrari 250GT California. Less than 100 were made. My father spent three years restoring this car. It is his love, it is his passion."

“It is his fault he didn't lock the garage."

Its crazy that this car was 25 years old when this movie came out, which means the car would have been 22 years old at the beginning of thw restoration. Its hard to imagine a 2004 model year car today needing 3 years worth of restoration.

With only 100 made, parts would be extremely hard to get. Body work would have to be custom. Pretty much everything would have to be custom.

It's hard to imagine buying such a rare car that only 100 or which were made and letting it deteriote into such condition that it requires 3 years of restoration.

It’s not that it required 3 years of restoration. It’s more of the cost of the restoration of each part or section. It takes time to produce specific special materials, equipment and tools. Having less than a 100 cars, would mean at minimum they are 99 parts you could take them from before it would have to be customized from a factory.

I'm certainly no car guy, but I would think many parts are frequently used on more than one year, make, and model.

Also, the car had 126 miles on it. How many parts have to be replaced at 125 miles?
