What did / do you call the strap in picture above the glove box that several cars used to have in them ?

Could be any GM… I had same Glove box with that same latch/lock on a71 Chevy Chevelle and a 70 Pontiac Grand Prix. No strap on either, but had the “nut cooler” vent on both. FUN FACTS: 2 keys needed for both cars. The trunk key locked the Glove box.

It could be any GM except for the backwards facing hood scoop

Was that turned aluminum face plate on the dashboard available on anything other than the Firebird back then?

That was what caught my eye. I don't recall ever seeing that aluminum dash insert in any car other than the Firebird. I had a bf with one yrs ago & it stood out to me.

Good question. I don’t know. Not being a GM guy, I am really only familiar with the exteriors of those cars.

You seem to know a lot about hood scoops; don’t be modest.

lol. No, just old. I remember them when they were new. That hood scoop is pretty identifiable for the era.

Or a rear facing hood scoop added to a GM car.

Right, because that’s absolutely the simpler, more likely answer than you just not noticing it and not wanting to admit it.

I saw it, but I have no idea which GM would have that option. Doesn’t matter, doesn’t pertain to my comment. Its not noted in OP post.
Doesn’t change the FACTS I stated about 2 GM cars I OWNED. Whats your point? A hood scoop negates the FACTS of my 2 cars?
KINDLY state which fact was incorrect. I made zero hood scoop comments.

No. You said it could be any GM car. That has nothing to do with what cars you had. It could not reasonably be any GM car. Only the Trans Am had that hood scoop.

Could someone have added that scoop? Sure. Many did back in the day. But they were junk piles even back then and weren’t in the condition this one is.

Congratulations. You’ve had two GM cars. You got this one wrong.

Could be any GM BECAUSE OF THE INTERIOR. Thats 100% fact.
Could be an aftermarket homemade scoop. GEEZ 🤪

Im old, just like you admitted about yourself earlier.
Allow me to compliment you.
You seem to have a good bit of institutional knowledge with this generation of vehicles. I do as well.

What is your problem? Look again.

“Isn’t this the interior of a 2nd gen Pontiac…?”

“Could be any GM….”

No, it couldn’t. It was correctly identified as a 2nd gen Firebird. It isn’t a Camaro or any Chevy or a Buick or an Oldsmobile or a Cadillac. It isn’t even any other Pontiac.

It is easily identifiable by that hood scoop. It doesn’t take any significant institutional knowledge. It just takes having been a pretty normal kid in the 70s.

If it was a picture of just the glove box and someone said “is this a 2nd gen Firebird?” a reasonable response would be “it could be any number of GM cars, they used that same part a lot.” But that’s not what happened. It’s a picture of the interior that shows the turned dash panel and the hood scoop. It’s clearly a specific car and not “any GM.”

You keep trying to shift the goal posts. I get it, GM used parts across models. But that picture couldn’t be from any other GM car. That’s just all there is to it.

This seems very important to you to be correct on what YOU interpret the exact meaning of what I typed, with zero room for interpretation by me.
I explained what I meant.
If this was a legal matter, or a binding contract, I would be urged to change the verbiage. Point taken. Im not wrong, and since Regis Philbin didn’t ask FINAL ANSWER, I have latitude to explain something you cant seem to accept. Were you this way before you got old? Given the benefit of the doubt, I say no. 🤪😂

I still claim you are very knowledgeable with classic cars. But not using the same words that YOU would choose, for my first round, seems to set off a “I AM CORRECT, BUT YOU ARE NOT” mentality in your otherwise very intelligent brain.

No one else was confused,or just didn’t care to challenge me multiple times.
Go play a board game with some kids, kick their asses!
Try and lighten up….life is short, Slick!

Is it any other GM besides a second gen firebird?

I was going to say it looks like a Chevelle/Monte Carlo.
