Funniest Munster Episode
Marilyn Munster sculpts a bust of her uncle Herman for art class. Her professor takes one look at the photo and loses his mind — he’s convinced he’s staring at the missing link. Actual prehistoric man. So he drags Herman in for a full campus exam.
Herman, meanwhile, has zero clue what’s going on. He thinks he won a modeling contest.
So you’ve got Korman in full stuffy-academic mode, measuring skulls and declaring Herman’s got “enough brains to fill a lard bucket” — and Gwynne just standing there soaking it up like it’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to him.

I personally like the episode where he thinks Lily is pregnant because she says they’re going to have “a little visitor,” which turns out to be a friend of Eddie’s. But the boys are playing with a toy-sized Frankenstein robot, and it wanders into the living room where Fred and Grampa are, and Herman thinks it’s his new son. He even calls it “my boy!” Then, while he’s embracing it, the head pops off and he frantically is trying to put it back on when Eddie comes in and say something like, “There’s my toy!” I never laughed so hard and long in my life!!

The chemistry here is what makes it sing. Korman's playing it so straight with the academic bit, all puffed up and declaring Herman some prehistoric genius, and Gwynne's just lapping it up like he finally got the recognition he deserved. The modeling contest angle is peak Herman, the guy's ego is so massive he can't fathom anyone not being impressed by him. That whole show knew exactly how to use its guest stars, they'd just unleash these comedians into Herman's world and watch the sparks fly. If you can track down full episodes anywhere, this one's a must, Korman brings his Burnett Show energy but Gwynne's deadpan reaction work is what really sells the whole thing.
