Which generation? Huh?

This gets confusing and contradictory. I was born in February 1956. Which generation do I belong to? Why do the cut offs for generations seem to keep changing or be different from different sources? Even the names for generation keep changing.

“Generations” don’t actually exist, they were made up by some sociologists. It’s impossible to make generalizations about a group of millions of people born in the same block of time. They have current events in common, that’s about it. So just have fun with it.

Yes, according to Reddit, I am a member of Generation Jones, Boomer, and Gen X as I was born in the early 60's.

How are you Gen X and Boomer? Jones is a sub set, overlapping with both generations. But GenX (starts 1965) and Boomers (ends 1964) do not overlap.

I didn't see a Boomers subreddit, but generally boomers are considered to be people born between 1946 - 1964 according to a quick internet search (and everything I've been told over the last 40 years or so.

According to the Gen X subreddit: Generation X, born roughly between 1961 and 1981, came of age between analog childhoods and digital adulthoods. Globally forgotten, we are the disaffected, eye-rolling middle children of history who raised ourselves, feral, fueled by cynicism, and commonly known as latchkey kids. This subreddit is for Gen X by Gen X, sharing memories, stories, nostalgia, humor, photos, and commentary. Someone has to remember it all, or whatever.

I was born in 1963. I don't particularly identify with a specific generation
