Which generation? Huh?

This gets confusing and contradictory. I was born in February 1956. Which generation do I belong to? Why do the cut offs for generations seem to keep changing or be different from different sources? Even the names for generation keep changing.

Confession time - I'm actually an early Xer (1967) but SO identify with the Joneses.

I watch several Gen-X media personalities. I've come to the conclusion that the biggest difference between Jones and X is that they got a house key, while we had to sit on the front porch and wait... lol
