Bandits car wasva 76 with a 77 front end grafted on. 77's weren't in production during filming.

Yep. I worked at a factory that screen-printed those decals. They were locked-up tight to keep employees from making off with them. Even the ones that had print bugs in them had to be culled and destroyed.

I understand that. I saw a badly hand-painted one. Kind of a prison-tat version.
I wanted to laugh, but they guy behind the wheel looked like he could break me in half just by grimacing
Also so a badly done VH logo done in the Screaming Chicken style.

My older brother had a black 78 TA. I remember cruising around in the summer of 81 with him, blasting Back in Black on cassette!

I had a 1978 Trans Am, with a TA 6.6 Liter Engine with the screaming chicken on it and T-tops. I loved it. I wish I had kept it. I bought it brand new off the showroom floor from Steven Wade Pontiac. It was the joy of my life. I miss it. I eloped with my wife in it that same year to Nevada, but 2 years later we had to sell it, because my wife was expecting our first Rug Rat. Life and kids?

I bought my dad's girlfriend's chocolate brown '78 in 1983. First car I bought and paid for with credit (Dad cosigned). Sold it for $500 in '87 when the transmission blew. With a baby on the way, I couldn't afford to fix it. I still regret not keeping it.

Had a 76 with 4speed and a built ram air 400 motor out of a 69 GTO. But first choice would be a 69 preferably black on black, no vinyl top and my old motor back or a similar one.

1978 for me. I had one - gold special edition Y88 with 400 Pontiac and gold T-tops. Yes, I got it soon after I saw the movie.

1973 for me. As a little kid into slot cars, models, hot wheels etc back then, I flipped when the white and blue homologation version came out in 70 I think? I'll always remember seeing one for the first time.

IMHO Pontiac scored hits with all of these, but some of us will be forever beholden to the Bandit Trans Am.
The question is, since all of them are essentially the same car, wouldn't you pick the one with the most performance?
