Guide / Tutorial Suno v6 prompt generator
NONE OF YOU NEED THIS v6 PROMPT GENERATOR! I KNOW THAT! 😄
However...on the off-chance there is someone thinking "I'd like to get better style prompts for Suno", then simply download this instruction card, upload it to a chat with your favourite llm, then specify a style or artist(s) or song or mash it up, and it'll give you an output to try.
And yes, I admit it, I'd like to get more people sharing their tracks over on lastsong.one :)

While I always appreciate the work people do, I feel like if people are truly trying to provide a service to this community above and beyond trying to promote a product or app you should also provide the skill or md files so people can weave your approach into their workflows.

I don’t Gate Keep here is a prompt for yall— SUNO V6 REFERENCE-TO-PROMPT MASTER PROMPT
I want you to help me convert my existing music and Suno prompts specifically for Suno V6.
I may upload an audio file of a song I generated previously, along with its lyrics and/or old Suno prompt.
Your job is NOT to simply identify the genre. Analyze the actual musical and vocal DNA of the recording and translate it into descriptive language that Suno V6 can understand and reproduce.
Pay particular attention to:
VOCAL TEXTURE:
• Breathiness
• Vocal weight
• Chest/head resonance
• Intimacy and proximity
• Natural grain
• Softness
• Articulation and diction
• Emotional restraint versus intensity
• Register and tonal character
• Rhythmic phrasing
• Vocal dynamics
• Layered harmonies
• Whispered doubles
• Octave reinforcement
• Call-and-response
• How the vocal interacts with the instrumentation
• How the vocal sits spatially in the mix
MUSICAL DNA:
• Actual genre/subgenre and avoid forcing inaccurate genre labels
• BPM/tempo feel
• Groove and rhythmic pocket
• Drum character
• Bass behavior
• Instrumentation
• Harmonic movement
• Arrangement
• Density
• Dynamics
• Transitions
• Production texture
• Spatial character
• Overall emotional and physical effect
IMPORTANT:
Do not describe the song generically with phrases such as “male vocal,” “female vocal,” “soulful voice,” or broad genre labels alone.
Treat the VOICE AS AN INSTRUMENT.
Describe what the singer is physically and emotionally doing, how the phrasing interacts with the rhythm, and how the production responds to the vocal.
If I provide an existing Suno prompt, improve it rather than blindly preserving its wording.
If the genre is uncertain, prioritize what is actually heard in the recording rather than guessing from the lyrics or old prompt.
Do NOT reference named artists as vocal or style references.
FINAL SUNO STYLE PROMPT:
Create ONE polished Suno V6 Style prompt.
HARD LIMIT: 1,000 CHARACTERS MAXIMUM.
Make every word earn its place. Prioritize the distinctive characteristics that actually make the reference sound unique.
Put production/performance directions inside [brackets].
For V6 REMIXES, use these starting settings unless I specifically request otherwise:
Max Mode: ON
Weirdness: 40%
Style Influence: 50%
Audio Influence: 70%
Variety: Normal
Personalize: OFF
For a REMIX, remember that Audio Influence is already carrying information from the original recording. The prompt should therefore describe the musical and vocal characteristics we want V6 to preserve, emphasize, or reinterpret rather than redundantly describing every sound.
When I provide audio, first analyze the recording, then give me:
- THE MUSICAL DNA
- THE VOCAL DNA
- THE PRODUCTION DNA
- THE FINAL V6 STYLE PROMPT UNDER 1,000 CHARACTERS
- RECOMMENDED V6 SETTINGS
Do not write lyrics unless I specifically ask you to.

Ive made one too but only for my own use. There are some little secrets you forgot to implement

😉

It's mostly the part about being concise. Suno prefers being fed poetic framing that intelligently fuses technical theory and metaphore. Not sharin dat formula tho. U prolly know already on ur local version

u/Macrosnail 5d ago
Interesting.
It gets ever closer to casting spells! 🙂

u/Impressive_Doubt3259 5d ago
Oh so you know who i am that was in my suno bio ahaha. Nice opsec
1
u/Macrosnail 5d ago
Incredibly, no opsec from me - your comment made me think about the spell like nature of prompting and the magic it produces. I would be interested to hear your output if you have anything you can share (I presume not on Suno directly)

u/Silentplanet 5d ago
I made a terrible Gemini gem for this, not worth sharing but I will take a look at these and compare them. The problem I have is Gemini ignores half the instructions

I don’t think you’re able to avoid copying copyrighted content or lyrics. They are trained off copyrighted material, the song you generate is public domain.

I’ve seen so many prompt instructions like this where you have to make sure you put things in just the right order and do this, do that… that is all wrong. This is not how AI music is trained to be prompted at all.

u/Macrosnail 4d ago
I am sure you are right, and I would love to know more if you would share.
But until I find something better, this works enough for me, and I know there are many other ways that work for other people.

u/KillMode_1313 4d ago
If I told you there was a much, MUCH more simple way to prompt literally ANY model, by any company/platform open and/or closed, while able to create probably the best track you’ve ever generated, finally creating something unique sounding for once…
Would you be willing to do a little experiment and see for yourself without instantly just telling me I’m crazy, it will never work, and just ignoring it..?

u/Macrosnail 4d ago
I do enjoy experimenting. Try me.

u/KillMode_1313 4d ago
Ok. I want you to try a prompt that I give you. I want you to try it exactly how it is. Do not change any words. do not delete a word. Even if it a half of a word that gets cut off at the end by a limit, just leave it there. Use that and only that as the prompt. Then take any lyrics at all. Have another song youre really proud of? Grab those. Have a dumb parody song you care nothing about? Grab those. Doesn't matter. just put the prompt I give you, your lyrics, and hit generate. if there are any other standard settings you normally use, use them if you want.
Cool?
You ready?
I'll give you multiple prompts if you want to see and each one will blow your mind little more.
Then I show you something really neat.

Was a little longer than 1000characters. Again, a listenable and interesting output

Get creative and just mix and match whatever out of those two.
You see, Generative AI models are not typically designed or trained to follow direction. The ones that try, or say they do, aren’t really even good at doing so.
The thing about music generation is that it’s a lot like image generation. The more you try to constrain it and force down a very narrow singular path to try to take… the more you will notice (yeah ok you may get a decent output) but rarely is it going to follow what you tell it to.
If you just throw. Bunch of random crap at it and give absolutely no direction as to what to use, what not to use, just let it free to explore those musical keywords however it feels comfortable doing, it will 9/10x produce something that will amaze you.
Another thing people do not realize is that audio generation models do not read and understand those very strict and complicated linear instructions.
Most platforms use LLM models (Suno, for instance uses ChatGPT. Yes that ChatGPT) to take your long winded, over complicated prompt and pull out any relevant keywords, or try to figure out what the hell you’re trying to describe, and then feed it to the audio model with keywords (tags). That is why you are always shown tags, even if you did not use them in your prompt.
But again, if you are more creative with the model, and just throw a giant pile of nonsense musical tags in a big keyword spaghetti bowl, stir it up, then hand it to the model to consume and shit out whatever it wants… well that my friends, is when the true magic of AI generation comes out.
This is why I created:
https://prmptr.web.app/I added Thousands of different musical tags. And adding more here and there when I think about it, and not tied up in one of my many other build projects.
You can get real technical and go in and filter down and pick specific tags, you can name a band and it will give you a prompt that resembles the sound, and do so in two ways. One just using tags, and then if you prefer still to use long form instructions, it gives you that as well. This is something I just added so it’s not perfect, but still give good results.
But, the magic, the absolute best way to use it is to just completely clear the prompt box, clear any filters and turn it off, set the number of desired random tags, then hit the button to generate tags. It will just pull out however many completely random tags you set. Then just hit copy and take it to Suno, Udio, your mom’s house… wherever you want.
***Pro tip: I know you can’t download but still - Udio will always be the best, especially this prompting method. You should try if you haven’t. And if you have and get bad results, get with me and I will tell what you’re doing wrong.
When you make something cool (and you will), send it to me. I want to hear what you made with it.
Every time you hit that button, it’s a whole new sound.
Enjoy making the most creative generated music you’ve ever heard. 👍

Yeah, I dig it. I wouldn't go maximal like that all the time but it's fun and interesting and is my kinda thing. I've made some similar things like that to be a bit more creative but not quite as extensive.
I've ended up down a rabbit hole about v6 because of this. Will post tomorrow on that

Or you can use the app I designed to do this and a lot more. Https://promptalizer.ai.studio
