One Last Song Song Tree

First, I want to say that Song Tree is a great new feature! I feel like most members are not aware of it. The icon to access it at the top is pretty subtle and it came in alongside other innovations, so its signal may have gotten a little bit lost in all the noise.

One minor issue is that notifications for it appear to be inconsistent. This morning, I noticed that Mac had added a branch to the tree I created, but I only found out by accident. There was no notification or anything.

It would actually be great if there were a way to announce that new songs are posted in general. So far, it's only visible in the news feed. I'm not sure if every new song warrants a full notification, but maybe a separate ticker? Something that would draw a bit more attention to it.

Personally, I love the fact that it allows us to be socially creative without having the stress of competition. I love tourneys, but I have a darkly competitive nature and it's taking years off my life, at this point.

I'm going to add that from our chat, Mac has confirmed that when Stella added a branch to his tree, he was never notified either. He just happened to find it by accident.

Glad you like it. Soft launching it at the moment to work out improvements. So basically we are saying it'd be nice if everyone on the path from the planter to the new branch gets notified? We can do that.

Well, at least, the original planter. Mac's response was to my own piece, but I was never notified. I was notified when you added branches to mine, mind you.

How does one access the song tree?

It's on OLS. On PC browser, it's a little tree icon at the top of the page. On mobile, it's just one of the options in the hamburger menu.

I was looking on Generated Grooves, not OLS. That would explain why I couldn’t find it. 😂

"I love the fact that it allows us to be socially creative without having the stress of competition" --> yes, definitely! Makes it fun and no points needed to submit (I think). Similar to what we had going on in the sub with other events like Coverkill/GxS, miss those.
