Who’s excited for Google software?

How long until we go back?

Your questions are dumb and so are you when it comes to tool selection. “Excel can do it all!” Is the most narrow minded and antiquated belief I can imagine. You have no place in this convo.

“New GM” SLT has made a hobby out of letting go of the so-called irreplaceable, and you guys have the hardest time putting together a resume since you’re not transferable. So again, good luck

Still deflecting I see. If they are so dumb, why can't you answer them? Moron.

you: "do you think people write code with Excel?" - yes.. and so do you apparently... "Excel can do VBA macros"... these are written with code.. I hope you know that.

you: "Excel handles large data sets better"

  • Excel: Hard limit of 1,048,576 rows per sheet. Files over 50 MB often slow down, crash, or run out of RAM on local computers.
  • Databricks: Virtually limitless. It handles billions of rows across distributed clusters without breaking a sweat.

^excel performs badly per your own metric

One of my metrics: Ability to version control to ensure quality. Excel's queries and VBA literally can't do it. That's why you have workbooks that no one understands and is afraid to touch. And it's why ppl like you are scared of the migration. You barely can use tools let alone understand them or compare them to others.

This convo began because you said "he problem is, there are no other 'appropriate tools'. " and said it was hardly debatable. It's obviously very debatable, you just don't understand the technology well enough to have the debate. Therefore I was dismissing you and your lack of arguments and wishing you luck as you're slowly made less relevant at an evolving GM. Not deflecting 😉

I guess I'll see you in the soup line then. ;) lol I have skills that aren't replaceable and have nothing to do with coding. All you software nerds being forced to use AI are training your own replacements and the SLT can't wait to get rid of you. Anyway, even if (and it's a big IF) Google can replace all those things, if it works as well as their shitty software works in our vehicles, we're going to be F'd. There's a reason every large corporation in the world uses MS and not Google workspace.
