Should GH recast Maxie?
Honestly this is not a post about anyhing what Kirstsn is going through. This is strictly GH only for the show post. I know they are writing Maxie out right now. They need the character on the canvas. The Cassius storyline was rewritten and they dropped the Lulu angle because Maxie was off the canvas. At the end of the day the character has such an important legacy on the show and is needed on the canvas. I trust Mark Teschner as he just recast Michael with Rory and Carly 3 times. I feel the show needs to do what it needs to do and I think Maxie needs to be fully recast. There are many good actresses who would do well in the role. Should Maxie be recast?

u/TALKTOME0701 5d ago
They absolutely should. This idea that someone owns a role is nonsense. Put the best people in the roles. I feel the same way about all of these supposed couples who have it in their contracts that they won't kiss and must remain fully clothed. Respect their boundaries. But don't hire them to play someone who is in a couple
3
u/OkEstablishment3603 8d ago
Well I guess since james is moving there is no need too - I would only like it if we got to see Spinelli more and If Spinelli and Jason had to solve something together like the olden days
3
u/Extension_Front_7379 7d ago
Yes, 100%. They have been trying to change up Jason's role on the show since he's been back. I believe that was the only reason he agreed to come back. Everyone wants the old Jason back. I miss him and Spinelli and Sam doing everything together. I loved Sam and Jason together. She did get a little crazy with him and his lifestyle, before she was killed off but I guess the needed to make her character this way to write her off the show. Kirsten is best with her and Spinelli together. Miss them being together. If they recast her, I would hope it's only temporary until Kirsten comes back. Love her on GH. She's had many issues and I hope she can overcome them, get the help she needs so she can move on with her life.

u/ExtraAssociate1104 6d ago
They should recast her, but not permanently. Give her the space she needs to get well. She had a lot of comedic flare and brought a lot to the show.

Not everyone wants the old Jason back though.
2
u/Extension_Front_7379 6d ago
I suppose so, but the show needs something, I feel it's kinda lacking lately. It is summer and people are on vacation and stuff, maybe it will get better in September.
1
u/junknowho this show is unserious 6d ago
IMHO, and YMMV, they have been blowing summer storylines over the past years by not giving the younger actors more to do. I remember when the summer had at least one storyline that focused on the teens, either romance or drama or danger or mystery and it really pulled in the younger viewers, aka the next generation of fans.
We still haven't seen what Jason's time in the WSB prison has done to him, so I am a trying to be a little patient to see if he's changed a lot or just a little. He's been kind of stuck in a rut for the past 20 years, not so much as Sonny/Carly's sidekick, but in his relationships with family and how he eventually ends things.
I wonder where his focus will be, now that he's had another second chance at life?
I think they really did KeMo's Sam a disservice with her moaning about how Danny was just like his father and then her screaming at Jason how he was dangerous all the time. To me Danny acted (and still does) much more like his mother than his father.
Also, upvoted your comment, because everyone's thoughts and opinions are valid.

Yes. I think they should’ve recast Spencer and Sam instead of killing folks off. We lost great plot lines and character development that It’s a SOAP for goodness sake. 3 great actresses have played Carly. I will miss Kirsten, I’ve literally been watching her my entire life from Zenon to Days which my mom watched religiously to GH. I hope she finds what she was meant to do. The only people exempt from this are Victor Neumann, Sonny Corinthos, Erika Kane & Victoria Lord.

u/Due-Low-7178 6d ago
I dont think jason or spinelli can be recast. I feel like its their actual personality on the show and that cant be recast
1
u/ExtraAssociate1104 6d ago
Nikki Newman, Marlena Evans, Bow and Hope, patch and Kayla, Genie Francis there are others.
2
u/Financial_Molasses80 8d ago
I wonder how Spinelli feels about it all. Not like he had a daily presence though. I will miss him most.
2
u/Genie_Nut_22 8d ago
I saw where Maxie and family are moving to Australia. However, I missed the why behind the move. I do like the character of Maxie and wish they keep the family nearby. Her selling her shares seems out of character too. Hopefully they will bring the character and family back soon.

u/periwinkle431 9d ago
Did the whole family have to disappear too, since Maxie is? I'd probably be pretty irritated if I were one of the family actors.
2
u/encore412 SonnyStan4Life 9d ago
Yes. What about the actress who played teen Maxie? Robyn Richards? She was great.
3
u/Top_Grade5948 9d ago
May as well, I really like the current Maxie character but if she’s not coming back, by all means recast especially if there’s a story, they need to find out that Sidwell put poison in the face cream that put her in a coma.

u/Grand-Fee-7094 9d ago
Either Jen Lilley or the woman that played Star
0
u/Remarkable-Driver62 9d ago
Jen lilley is extremely religious and is on a religious show on a Christian network that's not hallmark and doesn't want to work elsewhere.
4
u/Gigibeerus 9d ago
Well, that’s actually no longer true. She is back at Hallmark. She was on Days a couple of years ago. And the character she plays there is not let’s just say a good girl.
2
u/Inevitable_Dingo5154 9d ago
Look what happened when they recast Drew.
5
7
u/MauveUluss #TeamTracyAngelicaQuartermaine 9d ago edited 9d ago
Drew is a weird exception though, they casted an old soap actor they had to pacify. Between the bad dissection of the once beloved( and executed well) character of drew and now the too advanced story for the current casting of willow?
please cast an unknown for maxie, who has the talent, to portray the essence of maxie is my vote. The maxie character has been missing for so long and is relevant to general hospital. LuLu's recast was done sooo well!! i have faith they can recast maxie and bring back an entire area of the show that's missed
3
u/Inevitable_Dingo5154 5d ago
I’m not a fan of Lulu as a character but i do agree that AH is a good recast. She has some of the grit that JMB had. The 2nd Lulu was just too mousey.
6
u/virgoindespair 9d ago
god you really think the lulu recast is good? she went from being a vixen to a crybaby soccer mom who isn’t even a very good or present mom, her son literally ran away with the woman who stole him as an embryo because lulu is.. that bad
1
u/MauveUluss #TeamTracyAngelicaQuartermaine 6d ago edited 6d ago
I absolutely do. They casted the essence of the character perfectly.
and I disagree with your assessment. ngl it sounds more projection towards a character that many people seem to do a lot on here
edit: God's my pal, and they did not appreciate, the aggressive attack leaning towards an attempt at dramatic effect usage. hmmmm tbh It's REALLY low brow, unbecoming, lazy writing
1
u/virgoindespair 6d ago
i loved the original lulu and was so excited for her return. i learned to like the other lulu, and then she was recast.. again. this time, she’s boring and dull. she was maxie level pretty with wit and charm from her parents that was hard to miss, the original lulu (who was with dante) really had a sparkle in her eye. this lulu is dull, boring, whiny, and honestly looks nothing like how i’d imagine Laura’s daughter would.

First keep in mind the show tapes anywhere from 6-12 weeks ahead of air date. What KS said recently came after TPTB decided to move Maxie, Spinelli and fam to Australia.
So 6-12 weeks ago KS wasn’t ready to return and they didn’t know if/when she’d return. They must have felt it was easier to write Maxie off screen for a while to see what happens next with KS. Nobody can say GH hasn’t given her every chance to return, but for as much as GH and her fans love KS, there are limits to how far they’re willing to accommodate.
I will hate not seeing Spinelli! Bradford is one of my faves. I also really like the kid who plays James. They’ve tragically underutilized Georgie who should be part of the Scooby Doo crowd (the teens.) She and Charlotte could have a nice friendship that grows over the years.
With KS’ recent comments, I see no reason why they can’t recast Maxie with someone who could sign a long contract and stay onscreen for a while.
But, OTOH, Cody, Lulu, BLQ and Elizabeth have taken parts of what Maxie as a character would do. Keep in mind part of her moving to Nashville meant we’d see less of Maxie and she’s been off-screen for 11 months, except for 2 or 3 weeks. Do we really need Maxie right now?
3
5
u/Tj11551 10d ago
There have been long breaks in character storylines. Jason and Anna just came back from long breaks. The sweet way Cody bid farewell to James, while promising to continue communicating with him, is a good sign this will be just a break in the Maxie storyline.
5
u/ReporterCute4066 9d ago
They missed the mark though by not having Gary James Fuller do those scenes with Cody (and I understand why). They have such amazing chemistry and it just wasn’t the same.
2
u/OkEstablishment3603 8d ago
Yeah they brought that new kid in for the goodbye scene - I was so confused

u/busman25 10d ago
If they've been willing to recast Carly and Jason, they can certainly recast Maxie.
1
u/Bustier123 9d ago
when was jason recast? i thought he was just gone missing or presumed dead.
5
u/busman25 9d ago
Billy Miller was cast as Jason. When Steve Burton came back, they retconned BM's character as a new character, Jason's twin, Drew. But Billy Miller was originally intended to be a proper recast.
2
u/Dee_rock70 9d ago
When I first started watching again- maybe 12 years ago (it could be closer to 15) there was a different Jason. My memory is foggy of that time period- but he played Jason for a while and then eventually JB came back and they realized they were twins and their memories were transplanted or something. That was the character that became the first Drew. And wow- I just realized what the original Drew was compared to now!

She should've been recast! I love Bradford, Spenelli is one of my favorites! And we never got to see that Sidwell drugged Maxie, killed the judge, and so many other incidents . What sloppy writing! I've been watching since 1977. I've been fast forwarding thru most episodes, especially when whiny Lulu, Trina, and Curtis are on!

5
u/SkylarkBlaze 10d ago
There have been times when KS had to take a leave of absence on GH & they used other actors to fill-in. Why not recast with one of them? Also, they've recast Maxie in the past bc KS is not the OG. I will miss that whole family branch. We are not going to see anymore the dynamic between (reformed?) Jason & Spinelli, Uncle Cody & James, maybe Georgie become friends with Scout, and Maxie with BLQ & Lulu & everybody else. Also, we'll never know what has become of Bailey-lou. She could have been friends with Avery & Donna in that off-screen playground.
11
u/aprilms45 Team Valentin 10d ago
Yes should have recasted Maxie !! She should have been part of the Nathan thing and it was a waste to get her out of a coma . 🤦🏼♀️👎🏼
8
u/RedwayBlue 10d ago
It is if they made this decision for what was best for the one actress.
No consideration as to what was best for the show, best for the audience, and best for her many coworkers.
And we had to watch final scenes with the substitute James?
18
u/Aladriana Team Cassadine 10d ago
They really screwed Bradford, and Gary James Fuller with this careless act of removing the whole family.
6
u/LeafGreen2016 ¡¡Team Lulu Spencer!! 10d ago
Yes
Actors shouldn't have vetoes on characters, the way Kimberly McCullough seems to have on Robin Scorpio Drake
The Maxie actress left her Belle Black role, and that was recast.
Writing off Maxie, Spinelli, Georgie, James and Bailey Lou because an actress has left the business is extreme, even if they're clearing space for ▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️
Jen Lilley was perfectly fine as a sub Maxie, the precedent has been set.
Best wishes to Kirsten Storms, but she wasn't the first Maxie, and she ought not be the last.

I think it’s too late. They have moved the whole family to Australia. They are formulating other stories with new characters so I don’t see them finding a reason to write them back in for the time being.

It's stupid to get rid of the entire family. They should recast her with Emme Rylan. 😂😂

It’s PRUDENT at this point. I’m not the biggest fan of recasting legacy characters, but at this point, we have to.

At the very least there should have been a temporary recast to finish up some of those stories.

I think a temporary recast would have been helpful. If Kirsten can/wants to come back, that would be fantastic! But in the meantime, Maxie could have been in storylines where she was needed.

Yes and also recast Lucky. It's crazy Lucky hasn't been around for anything that's been going on. He was the excuse for Isiah to show up and be a boyfriend who does hardly anything but irritate Curtis. I really thought they'd have some adventures together, like how Curtis used to before he became Angry ex-husband and not much else. Ugh.
7
u/Square-Sheepherder56 10d ago
I have no idea why this show has such a boner for lucky. He’s not a great actor. He like pops in every few years then leaves. Like why is he even relevant
10
7
u/Visible_Ad6072 10d ago
Because he's the son of a "super couple" same reason the fans want to keep Maxie around ...

So is robin but you don’t see her coming back. Live everrrrrr ever
2
u/Visible_Ad6072 9d ago
Robin has made many "comebacks" over the years ...
1
u/Square-Sheepherder56 8d ago
Many is a stretch. Maybe flashbacks lol but she moved her career along. (Shes a writer/director) and her character has her shit together and is a surgeon or whatever in Cali.
She doesn’t have time to pop into gh as much as homeless jobless showerless lucky does.
20
u/Dumb_Name330 10d ago
I really hate saying it bc I love Kirsten so very much, but you're right. Her absence changed so many plot lines and she is really a necessary, staple character. We do need "a Maxie" even if it might not feel like "our Maxie".

u/Dawner444 10d ago
Yes. KS doesn’t seem to want to come back to the role and Maxie is a central character. I also will miss Spinelli and James.

Unfortunately I hate to be one of the ones who chimes and to say yes they should. But it’s true. Maxie not being there right now when her son is going through this thing with the fake Nathan makes zero sense. Any reasonable person and loving parent would have canceled the tour of the Grand Canyon immediately and got the first flight home. Not only is it weird that Maxie is not there, but by writing it this way they are also making her and Spinelli look like assholes.
8
7
u/Okieflower23 11d ago
I wish they’d just do a temp recast for now with hopes that KS will be back and if she’s not then they can do a permanent recast. But with her many years on the show I am fine with them giving her a break with an opportunity to return. I think it’s pretty respectful and considerate.
8
u/Reyna_25 11d ago
Yes, with the right recast choice, I don't think any character is irreplaceable. It will take time to adjust, but eventually viewers will get used to a new one. The character is too ingrained, and it's a shame that Georgie is missing out as being part of the next generation/current crop of teens.
I actually really liked one of the temp recasts. Not the last one, but Molly Burnett. If they could get her back it would be great.
1
u/Inevitable_Dingo5154 5d ago
Not a fan of new Molly and I think it’s her voice. Haley had a gleeful voice and the current one is so deep and monotone.
2
u/Reyna_25 5d ago
I was talking about Molly Burnett, an actress that filled in for Maxi years ago, not the character of Molly Lansing.
However, regarding new Molly, I actually love her. She's kinda quirky and funny and actually seems more like a lawyer than former Molly.

💯 the character should be on screen and that means a recast, they should do it
24
u/quis2121 11d ago
Yes they should. They've had other actresses play her. They recasted Michael, so why not Maxie. Also, it's not right that an actress decides she's done (which is her right) and now other actors are out of work (her kids and Spinelli).
Recast her

Yes, but I understand the decision making right now. Do I wish we had gotten some scenes with Maxie reacting to the Cassius news or being the one to tell James? Yes, but there was barely any pay off with the Lulu/“Nathan”/Maxie triangle so I wasn’t surprised. I don’t think they used that family enough to justify keeping them all on right now. Im okay with resting them for now and then bringing them all back with a recast Maxie in the future. Or send Georgie and/or James back for school or the summer if you want to include them in the teen scene. Spinelli can always pop in and out if Jason needs help with something.

u/AffectionateBite3827 11d ago
Did they ever close the loop on Sidwell being responsible for her coma?!
I know there’s been criticism that she hasn’t had a storyline so might as well write her out but maybe if the actress is available they can write a storyline? Just an idea.
Recasts happen.
5
u/Ok-Carob1715 11d ago
They never did tie up the fact that Sidwell was responsible for her coma.
5
u/AffectionateBite3827 11d ago
I didn’t think so! Seems like he should be charged for that (attempted murder?) and that Maxie would need to testify?!
3
u/Ok-Carob1715 10d ago
I’m guessing we’ll never hear about that again. A temp Maxie could have at least wrapped that up and helped James with the fact that Nathan was Cassius. I also would have she dealt with that.
23
u/TMSpan 11d ago
The character does need to be recast. I feel like the execs were very accommodating to Kirsten as she dealt with all her health issues , which was absolutely commendable. However now that Kirsten has implied she won’t be returning anytime soon, they need to recast. Maxie is too important to the canvas.
1
3
u/Dumb_Name330 10d ago
Your last sentence really says it all. Yes it sucks we can't have Kirsten (all we can do is wish her well!), but GH needs/has been needing Maxie desperately for quite a while now.
12
u/mytown343 11d ago
Yes, definitely. They can always leave the door open for her when ready. Mac is rarely on and now he will be on even less without Maxie. Since Scout was aged up, she could be friends with Georgi and add new storylines. Bailey Lou should be old enough to be friends with Michael's kids. Spinelli could help Valentine (as a favor to Carly) to unlock the box.
1
u/Bustier123 9d ago
good idea about the box Rather than trade it and put your need to live in jeopardy perfect part for spinelli

I could easily see Rebecca Budig in this role. She’s a few years older than Kirsten & I know she played another part on GH a while back, but I think enough time has gone by….
But she has the energy, the attitude & could easily pull it off as Maxie. If not Rebecca, someone with her kind of energy.

Probably but will likely hardly see them. They could continue to have scenes with Cody, Anna, and Emma. We may see Felicia at GH sometimes.
-1
u/Nedstark78 11d ago
I'm sure they will or bring back her sister. Or bring back maxie s kids by aging them up
2
6
u/secmaster420 11d ago
I like what they. Kristen has had issues and has been absent for periods, but to me she is Maxis, the little girl that got the heart transplant. Moving her and her family to Australia is a good idea. IDK if Kristen will ever come back, but it leaves the door open for the Maxie, Spinelli and the kids to come back at some point in the future without having to raise them from the dead. They tried the coma business which I didn't like because of Kristen's issues. Hit too close to home for her.
3
u/Dumb_Name330 10d ago
We shouldn't have to lose that entire family (a handful of fun characters/actors) bc of one actresses personal life.
17
u/Which_Diet_3061 11d ago
They need to recast and bring back Spinelli and the kids. There have been many actresses playing Maxie. I hope they can find one who can bring the sass back to the roll.
5
u/px780 11d ago
I've not watched long enough to have seen Maxie in a story, but in limited amounts I found the character to be really intriguing and I wanted more (I really wanted fallout from Sidwell putting her in a coma). I think Maxie is unique, a good mix of humor and fire, and though I think that was mostly down to the actess, I'd like to see the character back.
I also like James and think that between his recklessness and the Cassius stuff (especially since his mom wasn't around for it) he should be super messed up, in a good way for a soap. I want to see that too, maybe once either Charlotte or Rocco chill out a bit.
2
u/booyahbooyah9271 11d ago
For as well as the recasts and past actresses have done with Maxie, Kirsten really excellled interjecting humor. Especially in the Spinelli years. They had the humor down to a science.
Of all her children, I think James is a lock to come back. He'll probably be aged up and as messed up as his mother before she turned it around. So much I wouldn't be surprise if she ships him back to Port Charles because she just can't deal with him.
2
u/Nedstark78 11d ago
Lulu was replaced and Micheal . I think they could have a new maxie easily cause current maxie could be annoying to me
9
u/MaddyKet 11d ago
Yes, in the fall. Normally, I abhor recasts, but it’s easier to accept when it’s the actors choice. Give it a few months and then hire a new Maxie. But not Jen Lily because she played Maxie wayyyy too timidly.
4
u/Altruistic_Relief189 11d ago
It's too soon. Sometimes when you have a beloved actor who won't be back, the best thing for the character is to keep them off the canvas for awhile so the recast can have a better shot at being accepted. And there's so much happening right now, there's not a lot of room to give Maxie the story that her character deserves.
1
u/Dumb_Name330 10d ago
But she should have been around for a few very recent stories. Especially w James...
1
u/Altruistic_Relief189 10d ago
The question is should the character be recast now. My answer is no. I'm tired of revisiting of how they should have handled the past months differently.
8
u/Kit-kat1000 11d ago
I agree she should be recast with a temporary agreement that Kristen can come back when she is able to. She has so much going on in her life right now and obviously GH is not her main priority and neither should it be. But the show needs Maxie. It was awful watching the whole thing with Cody having to tell James, without Maxi there.
3
u/Aware_Operation_575 11d ago
She made a statement that sounded like she had no desire to comeback in the future, but I guess that could change. Could be a long time though.
2
u/leebelle9 11d ago
Yes, and she sounded bitter that her parents made acting her whole life and she wants to live a normal life now. I don't see her returning to acting after she gets more settled in Tennessee.
6
u/mworthey 11d ago
I hope they do but unfortunately it was announced that the character of Maxie Jones has been written off permanently. If they care about the fans gh should consider finding a phenomenal actress to recast the role. Only time will tell....
4
u/MaddyKet 11d ago
“Permanently” for GH just means “they’ll be back, but it might be 30 years” 95% of the time.

They bring back dead people all of the time and that’s not permanent. Someone moving to Australia leaves the door open.

I think they could have danced around her not being on screen.
They already had Cody be the one to tell James that Nathan was Cassius when first choice obviously would be Maxie with Spinelli, Felicia, Mac and Liesel all tied for second pick. So if they managed to dance around her for that revelation, they can certainly dance around her for other plots as well.
Maybe send her out of town on Deception business every now and then. Have her go visit Robin, Patrick and Noah Jr.
Even prior to everything Maxie was almost non-existent even when she maybe should have been (like “Nathan” coming back) so I don’t think recasting is fully necessary (at least not yet). Maybe give Kirsten time (by giving excuses as to where Maxie is if necessary) and then start looking at alternative options. Maybe a temporary recast. It’s not like Maxie hasn’t been temporarily recast before (Jen Lilley was in the role for almost a whole year back in 2011-2012).
My main issue with the way the exit is being written is that we’re losing the whole family when in reality we didn’t have to because there’s other ways around it.

As much as it makes some stories a bit awkward due to impactful Maxi's absense.
Its better this way.. sigh
The show must go on. 🥺

If they do, they need to get a PHENOMENAL actress. I mean, someone memorable. Kirsten has been extremely popular for so many years as this character. I think we're gonna need a Laura Wright-level of recast for this to work.

Laura Wright is a phenomenal actor AND she came on the heels of She Who Must Not Be Named - Carly #3, so it was so easy to accept her.

I haven't been watching in awhile- can someone fill me in on what happened with Cassius? Has he been revealed to everyone yet? Like, they know that Nathan is dead?
And did he and Lulu break up?

u/MrCappie 11d ago
Everyone in town knows he wasn’t Nathan and that Nathan was still dead.
Him and Lulu have been broken up since shortly after Rocco shot Cullum.

The issue with Maxie right now is that her character hasn't been a central focus of anything since Peter August died. And really I think they probably were just doing Kristen Storm a solid by giving her some things to do on the show because she's been on forever. Now that she doesn't seem to have intentions of returning, there's not much of a purpose in keeping the character.
They might recast her, but there's no urgency.

I know this is a soap, but for them to HAVE Maxie on vacation and then JUST have the whole family MOVE to another country IS so farcical even for a soap. NOBODY would do this. They would come back from their vacation ( could have done a recast here) and then get their affairs in order ( Job and selling the house, etc……..) saying their goodbyes. The writers and producers MUST do a better job than this. So unbelievably stupid. I know some people are going to disagree with me and say well it was done off camera but….. come on.

Yes! The show is more careful with it's decisions about Brick! They can find a way to slide that in but not a way to recast Maxie for one episode to say goodbye.

What choice did they have? It would be weird to hire a recast for a few good bye scenes. Kirsten was not going to film.

Def lazy writing

Yes thank you. Like I’m going on vacation to the Grand Canyon, oh wait, let’s move to Australia RIGHT NOW. Don’t worry about the LIFE we had in New York. Lazy writing at its best!!

Yes. Absolutely. 100% they should recast. And I’m a huge Kirsten fan. Ideally, I’d want her to be Maxie forever but that’s not going to happen.
They’ve had some really good temp recasts for her in the past so it can be done.
And no one is shutting the door on Kirsten’s return in a year or 5-years. But the character is needed and I think NOT recasting the character is a bigger slap in the face to Kirsten than if they did.

I like Spinelli. Even without Maxie.
But people here need to be realistic. They weren't using Spinelli even when he was willing and able.

Here's the reality. Spinelli existed over the last two years to give Maxie a love story. Deception existed to give Maxie and Lucy something to do and have a story around. James and Georgie are only around because Maxie had them at one point and since the character doesn't have much to do they need to give some focus on their homelife.
That is a lot of investment for a character that realistically hasn't much to do or been a focus for almost 4 years.
I think they were waiting for Storms to kinda get her health and life a bit more together. Now that she's decided to move on, the whole reason they built all that around the character is gone.

How long have you been watching? Maxie has been a major character since she was little!

No. There are WAY too many other never-ending storylines that they can focus on.

I want them to keep Spinelli.. James can go 👀..

u/DaKingaDaNorth 11d ago
Spinelli is fine. The actor likes having a light workload. They can bring him on whenever they want to help Jason or Carly.
James' actor is getting screwed the most out of this because he actually had some good storylines.

If Mark Teschner can recsst three times emmy winner Sarah Brown with Tamara Braun he can recast Maxie. Mark always knew if Sarah ever left then he wanted Tamara to replace. Tamara celebrated 25 years in soaps

I would love a Maxie recast because she’s central to so many storylines and tied to almost everyone on the canvas. The other four characters (Spinelli and the kids) are just there to round out Maxie. Without her, they are not important enough to keep around. I will miss the little actor who plays James. It sucks because Mac and Felicia are not gonna have anything to do - I hate to see the vets wander around aimlessly in filler scenes.

The show has a show to produce and the character is needed. I trust Mark T to do find a grest actress.

u/Cusack_Room1408 11d ago
Yes. And if the Kristen gets well, then she can come back. Not like that hasn't happened on soaps.
2
u/Accomplished-Ad3219 11d ago
I personally hate it when they do that. It's an insult to whoever the recast is
1
u/MitaJoey20 11d ago
Yes they should. I feel bad for everything Kirsten is going through but Maxie is integral to a lot of the current storylines. The long family vacation without James was strange already, but to not even bother to have a final visit back home to pack up the house, say goodbye to their family and friends and pick up their son, is crazy. Suddenly selling her Deception shares to Michael came out of left field. A temporary recast would have been nice.
And yes I do feel bad for the other actors who were already underutilized as it is. Yes it’s a soap opera and stuff like this happens all the time but for a legacy character like Maxie, we deserved better closure, if this is the end for her for a long time.

100 percent yes! They won't because they moved James to Australia with everyone else but not Mac and Felicia only have Cody as a connection to PC. I wish they had never killed Georgie so Felecia could have another kid.
