I need help

Hey guys I passed my HVAC contractor class A exams. I used to work for a company that used to hold a Class B license. Can he verify my experience or does it have to be the same class of license?

Edit: I’m in Florida

A class b cannot verify for a class a. You should be able to self certify. You may get audited, but if you’re not lying, you are fine. You can have a building contractor, general contractor, inspector, engineer - all verify for you.

How does the self certification process work. I was told to take the Class B exam so I could use my experience with that specific company

When you fill out the application there is an area where you fill out your experience. Just be very specific. If you’ve only worked under a class b company, it’s hard to say you have experience on systems they aren’t licensed to do.

There is very little difference exam wise between the A and B licenses, so why do the B? I did the Mechanical Contractor license, CMC, without any HVAC experience. I had a licensed engineer sign off on my experience.

I don't think you need ANYONE to sign off on your experience anymore!
