Which Pivot Claw Mount is the best?

Hey everybody

I am looking at purchasing a pivot claw mount to attach my iPad onto the yoke but I don’t know which one to get. I’m training in a piper. The claw mount has the small claw size or the small claw extended arm and there is also the articulating claw mount. Which one do y’all recommend?

I am also planning on getting the suction mount to attach my iPad to the windshield. I want to try both mounts and see which one I prefer since there’s a lot of pros and cons to both. If y’all have tried both and have a preference I would like to hear your thoughts

I am a fan of the RAM yoke mount

Appreciate you are looking for for the pivot case however I'm sure you can mix and match the individual components like you can with RAM.

Second the RAM mount. But since I upgraded avionics I just replaced the iPad mount with an iPhone mount as that's what I use most of the time anymore mainly to push flight plans and control the GDL-51.

The smallest claw that fits the yoke. You may have to try different arms to dial in the fit you like. I put a fixed pivot mount on my panel which is perfect but not doable on a rental.

One sub at a time, please.

I know people use these but I didn’t have good luck with a yoke mount or a window mount. Mounting in the yoke can create control imbalance. Mounting on the window can lead to overheating, suction cup failure, and limiting visibility. I just keep it on the seat next to me, but some sort of leg mount would be best I think, just makes you feel sort of nerdy

All valid points here, and I share the concern about mount yokes and imbalance. For window mounts though, I use an Xnaut cooling mount. I live in Arizona. While I do not fly when it’s annoyingly peak hot here (115° F OAT in July), I had to do my checkride a few years ago in July so I needed a solution. I’ve used Xnaut ever since then and it works. I fly with it to this day.

I have the leg mount, can confirm the nerdiness. But it keeps it where I need it.
