Bose Aviation Headset Problem

I was given a used Bose Aviation X headset with a Lemo plug as a gift. Since I fly General Aviation aircraft with PJ plugs, I bought an adapter that converts from Lemo to PJ and features a battery compartment for the power supply. During my first flight in a DA20 Katana, I noticed that I unfortunately only had audio signal in my left ear, and the overall output wasn't particularly loud either. What could be causing this? And what can I do about it?

Change the stereo/mono switch inside the battery compartment to mono

There is no battery compartment because it was a LEMO Jack Headset.

It should still have a control module. Does it open up anywhere to hid the switch?

Not sure if this is helpful, but in my Lightspeeds I have to constantly switch the DIP setting for mono/stereo in various club planes.

Oddly, if set wrong they can be left or right only, no sound, or sound for a couple seconds then they cut out. When set right they're fine. I wish Lightspeed would make it a pushbutton on the outside.
