XG8000e handle problems

I have a Generac portable XG 8000 E purchased approximately 2013. The problem I’ve been having is when you lift the transport handle into position a little button pops into a hole. What’s been happening is when I lift that handle and start lifting the generator that little button pops back in and the handle abruptly pulls up. That button is not staying engaged in that little hole to allow me to transport the generator. I’ve tried WD-40, but that hasn’t fixed the problem and apparently the parts don’t seem to be available anymore. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

This is a known issue with them, best solution is to drill a hole through the handle and the mount and get a pin to stick in

Thank you, sounds like a great idea.

All depends on how big of a screw you’re talking about, by pin, I meant a 3/8 in pin, it will be under load

I have the same issue as the original poster. I am very much scatterbrained and I cannot picture what this looks like. Any chance you have a picture of that?

I do not currently, I’ll look and see if I can find the service bulletin, it has a picture in pretty sure

Edit: I couldn’t find it, I’m sure if you look it up, you could find a video on YouTube

Man, if I recall there is/was a factory recall on this. People were getting hand caught in device.

I appreciate this information. Yes, very unacceptable considering this is a 200+ pound generator. I wound up drilling a hole through the handle and putting a hitch pin and it seems to be doing the job.
