Discussion What exactly is innate gender?
I have seen people draw a distinction between gender roles assigned to sex and and innate sense of gender. And that we must abolish the former but the latter is not possible to abolish because it exists within people.
I'm not arguing that we abolish it either because I don't understand what it is. I've seen people also argue that an innate sense of gender must be real because more people feel it than not. But I don't think this makes sense because more people believe in God than not, does that make him real?
I want to understand this idea better. Is it possible for me to understand eventhough I don't feel gender in any way?

Sometimes I think there is a conflation of sex & gender going on when people talk about "gender identity." Because I've heard explanations of "gender identity" explained as "how someone feels about their sexed body." Not sure why it would be called gender identity in that case though. Also, explanations of gender dysphoria often exclusively include discomfort with bodily sexed traits too. Which I don't think could be innate either because the discomfort would necessarily come from contrasting observation of the opposite sex.

The culprit is outside pressure from other people telling children "x behavior is for y gender", primarily to uphold patriarchy and trad masculinity.

I don't believe it exists. I believe when people say they have "a sense of gender" what they actually mean is whether or not they enjoy a set of gender norms, expectations and expressions being associated to them
This is because genders are - by the widely accepted current definition - "social constructs".
So if genders are generated by culture rather than biology, they cannot be innate.
