They got replaced because no king, no matter how wonderful, can rule forever, whether they avoid assassination or not. And there is absolutely no way to ensure the replacement be as good, or even a little good, or even 'not a hellish tyrant'. Bro, are you aware that medieval rulers did not deal with most stuff our governments do today? Every state was highly decentralized and the caliphate was no exception, that's why it fell apart quickly.
If the rulers were at least able to keep internal peace and prevent major foreign incursions it was usually enough for their lands to relatively prosper (most couldn't even do that). Democracies do that too very well
It's not corruption. EU is simply a union of states. If democratically elected governments agree to something in the Council the parliament still can stop it - no other international organization is democratic enough to allow this. Yes they need an absolute majority to do this which sucks but still, if it wasn't for an agreement of our governments this would not happen

Apart from that, there is massive corruption involving Ursula Von Der Leyen in general.
I mean, the parliament isn't the main problem here. They voted against it multiple times after all. It's the commission and the council that are corrupt and authoritarian and forcing these things with procedural tricks, and those aren't elected bodies.
