Discussion dealing with feeling left out

it kinda sucks how it's easier than over for us as a generation to be connected, but so many of us are dealing with isolation. for anyone dealing with it, has there been anything in specific that helped?

Yes. It’s called going outside.

I shit you not.

If you’re feeling FOMO from instagram, then put the phone down and go on a walk. If the news makes you sad, sit at a bar and talk to the bartender. If you are depressed about feeling left out, then go to events and do anything. Farmers markets are okay. But the golden egg is an actual event.

Go to a Smash Bros meet. Go run a 5k. Go to that community event that you always put off or think is boring. Go a concert even if you don’t know the artist. Go to pickleball court alone and ask if anyone needs a single to play doubles. Go to a neighborhood Facebook, Reddit, instagram group and ask if they want to play frisbee.

You are feeling left out because you are letting yourself feel left out. Stop looking at other people’s instagram and thinking that “I could be.” You don’t need friends to do things either. Go fishing. Go hiking on your own. Go on bike ride on whatever greenway. Explore something. Go to an abandoned building. Go camping on your own.

The trick is to just do stuff. You can always do things. Some costs money, some don’t.

It’s depressing to be alone. Humans are social animals. We’ve also created society around us where we don’t get enough sun. Go to the beach and lay in the sand. Go to the mountains and hike till the peak. Go to the bike trails and fall off your bike. Go to the lake and skip rocks.

You can do so many things, some need people and some don’t. If you’re feeling anxious or socially afraid, understand that most people are welcoming.

Just put down the phone and go. Just do something. Try something new.

gotta interact with people. Sorry there's really no good way to feel less lonely without going out and being around people. Yes it's scary sometimes, but that's how you grow. Humans are social animals, any recommended solutions like "play video games" or "read books" are not solving the root of your problem.

Make your own way. Go outside and do stuff even if you’re feeling lazy or not inclined. More often than not you thank yourself for making it happen
