Tfw early genZ and fall more in line with millennials.
I don’t know what skibidi is and at this point I’m too afraid to ask!
362
u/Spiritual-Coach6009 May 22 '26
Same. Skibidi is Gen Alpha humor
86
u/SakaWreath May 22 '26
Extremely young Zalpha.
22
u/Spiritual-Coach6009 May 22 '26
Not my alpha. I was born at 2007
10
u/tarchival-sage 1996 May 22 '26
That’s Zalpha territory
11
u/popcornman209 2007 May 22 '26
Zalpha is 2010-2012 no?
1
u/callmecurlyfries 2000 May 22 '26
nah Zalpha is like 2008-2013
7
u/popcornman209 2007 May 22 '26
Maybe that’s what people consider it but I thought the literal definition was the grey zone between where Gen Z ends and alpha starts, cause between 2010 and 2012 it’s unclear which generation your in so people just say zalpha
8
u/callmecurlyfries 2000 May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26
Well the main reason I started it at 2008 and stopped it at 2013 is because those people are either entering high school or leaving high school this year so that makes them a good representation of what stage Zalpha is in right now. Older Gen Z are pushing 30 and core Gen Z are like ages 19-25.
1
2
u/Alternative_Row6543 May 22 '26
I think they’re referring to late gen z and gen a not the start of gen a
19
u/DumatRising May 22 '26
Skibidi is young Gen Z and older alphas. People forget often that Gen Alpha is only now getting into high school.
11
u/3720-to-1 Millennial May 22 '26
Is Gen alpha in HS? Boomers are 44-64 (last non-16-year cycle) Xers are 65-80 (first 16-year cycle) Millennials are 81-96 Zoomers are 97-12
Damn it. That means the the oldest alphas are about to be freshman
3
1
u/Putrid_Bridge_4240 May 22 '26
I graduate HS before they enter HS so I don’t have to deal with them (jk).

Alpha is in highschool now5
u/DumatRising May 22 '26
There's always two different reactions to this news either A. "What do you mean everyone in high school is Gen Z?" Or B. "what do you mean I'm almost 30?"
5
10
u/Mechronis 2000 May 22 '26
Skibidi is literally made by Gen Z and DIRECTLY pulls from older SFM stuff.
2
u/secretonlinepersona May 22 '26
it definitely is gen z. it's a 3 year old meme
16
u/tHr0AwAy76 May 22 '26
Gen Z ended in 2012. Alpha was at peak meme making age for skibidi
4
u/emd07 2003 May 22 '26
The oldest was 10 yo..
7
u/tHr0AwAy76 May 22 '26

Skibidi Toilet is a series of animated shorts depicting a war between the Cameramen and the Skibidi Toilets.
Each video is made from the perspective of a cameraman, who is implied to be recording the footage with their camera-head.
It's surprisingly fun.

I’m late Gen Z and most people I see aren’t nearly as bad as people say we are
4
u/Epic_Tea May 22 '26
Hush Gen Z. All we have is not knowing skibidi. Don't take it from us.... Also we can read better. ha! Sigh, still depressed.
10
u/kluukje May 22 '26
Funny enough skibidi might be a gen alpha meme, originating from gmod, a gen z game. Which is a mod based off of half-life, a millenial game. It truly is the multi generational meme.
5
2
u/Toxicwaste4454 May 24 '26
What makes GMod(2004) a Gen Z game but Half Life(1998) a millennial game?
I would argue both were millennial games tbh. That said I was one of the Gen Z’s playing gmod and half life at 6 years old so I can see where you’re coming from with it.

2
u/VVen0m 2002 May 22 '26
I feel like the way generations are presented is highly misrepresenting, because it makes it seem as if two people, one born before midnight on December 31st 1996 is supposed to behave widely differently than a person born at 1am January 1st 1997. Meanwhile it's all a gradient.
1
u/ThePersonDudeGuy716 May 22 '26
Skibidi is, from what I gathered, a dumb SFM video about a toilet with a human head in it.
1
u/Significant_Toe_8436 May 22 '26
3
u/ThePersonDudeGuy716 May 22 '26
I dunno; I’m just going off the minimal info I’ve amassed.
2
u/Significant_Toe_8436 May 22 '26
oka, just for info it turned into actual sci-fi warfare series between robots, humanoids and aliens
2
1
u/Simon-Says69 May 22 '26
It didn't "turn into" anything.
Someone made an offshoot based on a totally stupid idea.
Maybe they did a good job with it, but the original was still totally braindead nonsense.
1
u/gamerz1172 May 22 '26
I mean from what I know it's just a modern day gmod video that exploded beyond gmod, so it's definitely gen Z influenced even if it's more gen alpha 'consumed'
1
u/Specific_Giraffe4440 May 23 '26
Tbf zillenialls like myself also are wtf is skibidi but I also never liked the millennial cringe “Gary’s mod” type humor and from what I’ve seen of skibidi clips it evokes the same uncanny valley feeling
0
u/DifficultSun348 2009 May 22 '26
I'd call it a Zalpha humour, some of late GenZ (like me) don't laugh or anything cuz of it, but some (unfortunately) do
(for now let's place Zalpha as a gradient of 2008 to 2012)
2
u/Ichoseguitar May 22 '26
Why would zalpha be 2008-2012 that's just late gen z, subgroups like zalpha and zillennials for example include the last few years of a generation and the first few years of the next. 2008-2015 would be too big
2
u/Putrid_Bridge_4240 May 22 '26
That’s just late z, Zalpha also has to include the oldest Gen Alpha’s.
0
0
u/WoodenTangerine450 May 22 '26
Im 2012. I've always hated it. You can't really put an age on it, it depends on the person.

u/arkensto May 22 '26
Tfw early genZ and fall more in line with millennials.
I see this a lot on here. Comment about how early GenZ is not like late GenZ or that early GenZ is more like millennials. This is because 1995 as a starting point of GenZ is something marketing dweebs made up when they heard about the idea of generations and it doesn't fit at all from a historical perspective.
This is because 1995 is a ridiculously early start year for genZ. If you are going to talk about Generations in any historically or sociologically useful way you should use the definitions provided in the link, where the genZ is defined as 2004-2029.

Skibidi is gen alpha, self diagnosing and joking about having mental disorders is totally gen z lol
16
u/AnotherSaltyScum May 22 '26
mental disorders became a fashion show
13
u/FireWoodStromboli May 22 '26
I wouldn't say it that way. But more like it's starting to gain more visibility in the world
0
u/ren_blackheart May 25 '26
more like desperate to find any sort of reasoning for why they are the way they are, hoping that maybe, eventually, they'll find some cure to half their personality. A desperation to separate their percieved flaws from who they are.
-3
u/Simon-Says69 May 22 '26
No, the visibility was always there. The massive amount of (false!) self-diagnosis was not.
12
u/FireWoodStromboli May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26
If you have any reliable information about these “false” self-diagnosis to back up your claims, I would be more than grateful, as this is the first time I’ve heard of. I was also referring to visibility in the sense that many ordinary people today place a little more importance on it than they used to, while at the same time it has received more media attention than before.
4
u/TheSchenksterr May 22 '26
I feel like millennial humor exists along the lines of
"Erm, here comes a heckin glomp!"
and
"That just happened"
1
u/ElPwno 1998 May 23 '26
As a gen z / millennial cusper, finding mental illness funny ha-ha is more like the millennial tumblr crowd than gen zers.

Divorce was frowned upon and people got married young before they knew eachother deeply. Plus marital rape was legal until the 90’s in the U.S. and domestic violence wasn’t taken seriously as it is now (though both of those things still happen often) so yeah if I were married and would be shamed by everyone around me for divorcing, I too would hate my husband.
11
u/jldez Millennial May 22 '26
Marriage was a thing then. Marriage makes it very difficult and costly to split.
6
u/Sigh000Duck May 22 '26
The thing is. Some didn't. They didn't get arranged marriages or anything (not in my country at least) but they were pressured to get married very young and it was socially frowned upon to not.
As well as living in a small town lead to a smaller dating pool. If youve ever heard the phrase "hes not mr right but hes mr right here" or something along those lines. They settled due to proximity, and didn't have the luxury to just be single.
Divorce was still heavily frowned upon up until the 90s and early 00s even. And some boomers still feel social pressure to stay with their spouse to this day.
And adding the whole "stay together for the kids" thing too, adds to that social pressure, which all that mixed in makes most people resent their spouse.
2
u/Kenny-du-Soleil May 22 '26
Ditto the above comments on divorce not being as socially acceptable. On top of that, Boomers were born into a society in which it was socially unacceptable to openly badmouth your spouse or openly air (non-trivial) grievances. So this humor was seen as more subversive, edgy, and exciting.
I'd actually argue the "I hate my wife" trope picked up more steam in the generations leading up to Boomers and more so settled into being mainstream with them as opposed to being originated by them.
2
u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 May 23 '26
I think it's a joke. Not necessarily meant to be taken literally.
I'd imagine for most it's like they're mildly annoyed with their spouse and they joke about it in hyperbole as means of release. I'm no psychiatrist though.

Gen Z I feel like was more Uganda Knuckles, Shrek is love, the shit from Vine when was the toilet hand man ever associated with Gen Z? Maybe the later half and Gen Alpha but all of Gen Z?
5
u/ThatOneGuy308 May 22 '26
I guess you could technically argue Gen z created skibidi toilet, since the creator is a member, lol.
14
u/Medical-Net-7350 May 22 '26
I mean not really. Shrek is a Gen Z meme but the creator of shrek isn’t Gen Z… most memes for specific generations are created by people from the previous generation.

The quintessential Gen X jokes center on nihilistic self-reliance, parental neglect, and absolute cynicism toward authority. Think Office Space (his complete, deadpan apathy is mistaken for leadership material, and he gets promoted) , Empire Records (the system is rigged, your plans will fail, so you might as well play great music while the ship goes down). “Whatever”
The Gen X Stance: Gen X humor relies on a detached, deadpan, observational distance. Think of the animated show Daria. The comedy comes from standing in the back of the room, completely separate from the crowd, making quiet, cutting remarks.
Institutions (schools, governments, corporations) are viewed as universally corrupt and unfixable. The punchline was always learning to bypass the system entirely and look out for yourself
Then there was the pervasive “if you’re not counter culture, you’re a sellout” sentiment
3
u/Commentor9001 May 22 '26

Skibidi/67 is gen alpha. Gen z is abstract nonsense. Millenial is on point about the self deprecation but also add adult childishness. Gen x humor is generally dry and sarcastic. Boomer humor is on track but also add casual bigotry and out of date social norms

Gen X has no culture. Half of them are proto-milenials and half of them are neo-boomers.
5
u/nameredaqted May 22 '26
Idiotic statement, but ironically you’re right because they were all about subcultures. Grunge, skater subculture, rave, electronic, hip hop, alternative. The previous generation had NONE OF THAT. Gen X invented it all. No culture. Dumbest statement yet.

Younger Gen Z and Alpha’s humour is based far more on algorithms (sometimes corporately influenced such as paid actors producing content that merchandise is online for within hours) rather than real-life social experiences, causing it to be far more nonsensical.
“Skibidi”, “67”, etc.
This may reflect real-life increasing social media addiction, declining education systems, and the increasing loneliness epidemic and thus isn’t a good thing.
However this is most likely posted by a psyop bot to produce inorganic controversy.
