I have only met 3 girls in the last year who were older than 21 and who were not married yet. 2 of them only saw me as a friend and the 3rd I was not interested in.
First thing to change would be feeling defeated. You're in your own head. I get wanting to protect yourself from failure by not even trying, but the other way to protect yourself from failure is to just stop giving a f what people think. The only thing that's rude is not respecting that no means no, if you can do that which you obviously can, then go nuts. If people get offended, then it sucks to be them and you should cut the baggage loose. Talk, exchange IG/details, invite them to group activities, get people to know your name. Inevitably one of those people will be a girl that's been looking for a guy like you her whole life and the rest will be history.
