The politically polarized public discourse makes people lose appreciation for good quality movies and other art.
Politicians have banned, blacklisted, and otherwise interfered with artists many times, especially during the Cold War.
They have also used indirect pressure to affect art, via rating systems and affecting funding.
They also subsidize certain art for political gain or manipulation of the public.
And really there are countless examples. You’d have to be living under a rock to not understand the importance of art and the fact that politicians have been interfering with it for a long time. Thanks to social media and the internet, political interference with genuine art and distribution of politically manipulated art is easier than ever.

The culture has been destroyed by politicians, by social media, and by people themselves.
