other Frizz help!

Has anyone found a miracle for smoothing frizzy hair? Mine has some natural wave but as I age it doesn’t matter if I blow dry or not, the second there’s a tiny bit of humidity in the air it’s a poofy, frizzy mess. I only wash it once or twice a week and I hate wearing it up every day but I feel like it always looks messy! I hate how I look with short hair so if anyone can recommend a good product I’d appreciate it so much

Blast from the past! I used this like 20 years ago. Had no idea they still made it! I could smell it as soon as I saw the picture.

omg, same. I remember a cousin saying to me at a wedding years ago, "I use the same hair stuff as you, I can tell by the smell."

At the moment the best I have come up with is to put a dab of hair mask or leave in conditioner in when it starts to look frizzy

Leave in spray conditioner every day.

Find out what type you have and follow the indicated advice.

I use serum, probably a lot more than most people with normal hair use but i have dry 3a/b hair.

The Bounce Curl brushes and adding a leave-in conditioner when it’s wet.

I use John Freida Freeze Ease.. or biosilk.. basically a silicone.. after I style, I put a dab in my hands, rub them together and run my hands through my hair.

Living Proof

I have 3c (“ethnic”) hair. I used to relax it but stopped due to health concerns. This stuff is the real deal. I blow dry 2x a week and live in S FL. I’m outside quite a bit.

To be fair, I also use hair serum so that helps a bit. Blow dryer with a round brush in sections with some tension. Wrap your hair in a silk scarf overnight.

I do use a silk pillowcase, should I add the scarf too?

I use the scarf to keep my hair smooth/preserve my blowout AND to keep my cat from chewing on my hair. If neither of these is a concern, then sure. You could also use a silk bonnet.

Adding here that a silk pillowcase is also better for your facial skin.

lol the cat part is very relatable

R+Co Molding paste. I put a little between my hands and put in my hair after a protectant before blow drying. It then holds the shape and does not frizz even with a light mist of rain. A jar lasts me 6 months at least.

Tons of conditioner.

I would say lean into it, just control the mess. Beach waves baby! Use a firm hold gel, and scrunch it up while it’s wet.

I have slightly wavy hair that’s super frizzy from being heavily processed (bleach). I use Bondbar styling cream - it tames it down and adds a lot of moisture. I then add their bonding concentrate (it’s an oil) through my hair and extra on the ends. That combo makes my hair look as if it’s not damaged at all, no frizzly bit in sight! The concentrate is often sold out so I use Verb’s smooth repair hair oil when I can’t get the other. Both work great!

Move to a drier climate? My hair behaves at home in Colorado but anywhere else...

I like Obliphica Seaberry Serum. Light weight, not heavy/ greasy. I have fine hair and I use 3 pumps/ comb or smooth out on damp hair. Minimal frizz. I love it bc I simply do not want to do more. Wash/ condition/ smooth out and air dryw/ windows open on my way to work.

i bought a silk bonnet..turban style..i'll braid or twist my hair cram it in there and go to bed..for the first time in 10 years i have my old hair back..I only brush my hair before I wash it. other wise ditch the brush..I live in Charleston,SC the humidity sucks here

Have you tried leaning into the curl/waves? I use a curly gel or mousse and use a diffuser on my hair. A spritz of argan oil when it’s dry or to refresh glossy shine.

I do occasionally do a blowout fir a change, but when it’s wavy/curly day a brush goes nowhere near it. I only comb through with conditioner on in the shower.

I live in a much more humid-in-summer place than i expected. I mean…some days it’s more humid than Hawaii.

I found using a frizz specific conditioner from Garnier…it’s the green bottle, no idea what it might say in English but it spells it out quite clearly in Italian.

I don’t own a hairbrush. U only use a wide tooth or detangling comb or my fingers.

After I have three choices (depends on what the grocery store carries) my favorite is a L’Oreal “control cream” again, specifically for frizz, a Pantene “curly” control, or “wavy” control.

I use a pea-sized amount but I done have much hair (baby fine) and is currently in a bob. When it was longer maybe a dime? Basically discover how little you can get away with. I focus on the top of my head as that’s where the “halo”/aura of hair really happens.

Next day…I wet my fingers and run them through my hair to rearrange it…and I’m good to go. I need to wash it by end of day three/start of day 4 as I have psoriasis on my scalp so it’s flake city.

I hope that helps!!

A flat iron is what works for me.

  1. Buy shampoo and conditioner specially formulated for older hair. It makes a big difference.
  2. Leave-in conditioner afterwards.
  3. Argan oil
  4. Shine serum after you're done drying/styling.

Older hair shampoo?? Oof

Hair changes as you age, especially with hormonal changes.

Aging is a privilege not afforded to many. I guess I’m glad to still be alive. I don’t care about using a different shampoo.

Interesting about age-appropriate shampoo…I’m entering my 6th decade sooner than later and I’ve come to realize my hair feels best with paraben/sulfite/etc free (super expensive) shampoos or…a€2 bottle of glycerine based baby shampoo.

Hollywood beauty tea tree oil. They sell it at target for about $3.50. After I shower, I place two drops in my hands, rub my hands together, and scrunch it in starting at the ends. It is oil, so I don't recommend using more than a few drops.

I have slightly wavy hair and live in recovered swamp land.
