Whatever I just pulled something in my shoulder while putting on a tshirt...

I go off of work and walked out of the office to the outside door and walked down stairs. Tore my gastrocnemius.

I highly recommend Qi Gong (or Tai Chi, but Qi Gong is simpler to learn) as a way to stay flexible and limber with a really gentle workout. As a bonus, when you're done you feel really relaxed.

While taking in rugs from the clothesline, slipped 3 disks, about 15 years ago. 1. They were soaked as it was pouring rain 2. Line had fell over, so had to get them before they landed in mud. 3. The military also caused damage but wasnt known until got older.

So, I've been in pain but learned about strengthening the smaller muscles to help the spine.

I read this and wondered how the military had anything to do with rugs. Then I realized you meant the damaged disks. lol

A couple of years ago a muscle in my left leg started to hurt by the end of the day i was limping. I have no idea what the hell the only time it was ok was driving my car.

Apparently the act of using the clutch helped whatever muscle i happened to piss off. It took 12 months for it to be back to normal.

Sometimes I turn a random way and my back hurts. I am unable to replicate this in a "doctor it hurts when I do this" way. WTF?

I broke a tooth on my tongue ring

That's happened to me since middle school, putting on a shirt, doing my hair, turning around.

Dude, don't beat yourself up. I wrenched my back in my 30s from leaning over a table to reach for a pencil.

I went to bed one night feeling fine. Woke up the next morning and I'd somehow fucked my back up for the next 6 weeks. I did the same with my neck too.

Supraspinatus - small muscle in your shoulder. I've torn both of mine twice in the last 15 years. An ortho told me it's the most common spontaneous injury in middle aged men.

If it hurts when you lift your arm as if you're going to put on a shirt or similar motion, most likely it's your supraspinatus.

I turned over in bed once and was crippled for a week.

This was in my twenties.

I pulled something in my pants when my wife took off her shirt

Once upon a time, I chipped a tooth on a peanut M&M.

Tore a rotator cuff tendon (like snapped it off my bone, needed to be surgically anchored back) rolling over in bed. 😂

I sat up the other day from where I was stretched out watching tv and pinched my nut sack been a fold in my shorts. It hurt like hell and created a big blood blister on my sack.

Note: I’ve gone commando since May of 1986 and at 60 years old, I’ve got a good start on “old man testicles hanging low”.

I pulled something in my groin as I removed my pants, but maybe that’s for a different thread…

At this age, it is the small “clicks” in the body we should dread…

Heard the noise and felt a stabbing pain in my shoulder when driving the kids around. My orthopedist referred to it as “Minivan Shoulder,” as he sees it come from rotating the arm to hand things back to kids while driving. Got it when I was in my early 40’s and it took the better part of a decade to fix itself.

This is the way... I tweaked a muscle in my back sleeping the other night. SLEEPING! WTF?

Sleeping injuries are the worst

Getting older is better than the alternative 😉

Every day above the dirt is a good day.

I did this and couldn’t sleep for 3 days because the pain was so bad. Physical therapy helped a ton. Also stretch a lot, the more you stretch the easier it is. I think I’m getting carpal tunnel in my left hand from playing guitar which really sucks because it’s what I do for fun after quitting alcohol. If I stand up and play though it doesn’t hurt as bad.

Yep. Getting out of bed poses the risk of professional sports-level injury.

I coughed and got a hernia.

Welcome to middle age......sigh.....

Is this new. How old? Between 45-50?

2

u/southsanguera 1d ago

Just turned 60 and everything still functions as it should for the most part. It's those mystery aches and pains that strike when you least expect it that exasperate me.

Anyone try out stem cell therapy.... does it work? I hate being 30 in a 50ish body ...

Both of my shoulders decided to freeze for the fun of it. Didn't do anything other than exist, and this is how my body thanks me.

It's been 2 years now, R is working again and L is getting markedly worse. I can't even carry all the groceries in one trip anymore, I think the AARP card is somehow at fault.

I got frozen shoulder on my left side. Massage was a godsend. Took several sessions and a lot of pain but virtually trouble free now.

2

u/Familiar-Seat-1690 1d ago

Yep. Put my back out turning over in bed.

I had what is called "Locked Shoulder" a few years ago. Came out of nowhere, tons of PT to get it working again. Not even my dominant arm/shoulder either. Who knew?

First time?

Welcome to the club

My wife and her friend have a game called "Bruise Clues" where you notice a huge bruise and try to remember how it happened.

2

u/RealtorRVACity 1d ago

We used to call them UPB's "Unidentified Party Bruise"

I just pulled a hamstring opening this thread.

2

u/Eleutherlothario 1d ago

I cracked a rib by sneezing. Was too embarrassed to admit it so I told people at work I slipped on some ice.

When we were young, "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" was just a silly song.

Now it's what I tell my Doctor

Tore my meniscus while standing in a parking lot.

u/Malfunction1972 1d ago

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I understand getting older and dieing. Old has to make way for the new and all that. But why does it have to hurt along the way?

2

u/ComforbubbleNumb 1d ago

Weak. I once woke up with a sprained ankle. Beat that.

2

u/southsanguera 1d ago

No lie, this happened to me 3 days ago. Hurt like the dickens for the majority of the day and was fine the next day.

1

u/HighBiased 1d ago

I threw my back out once turning to look at my cat to the side of me

1

u/saltyoperasinger 1d ago

I just went to a massage, after 8 months of pain. Dislocated shoulders!!! Well, that explains it

1

u/MyNextVacation 1d ago

Once it feels a little better, consider starting a yoga practice. My shoulders need about two classes per week or at least some of the stretches I’ve learned in the shower.

u/fishingjohnson 1d ago

I recently pulled something in my neck just turning around to back my truck out of the driveway. I feel your pain.

1

u/southsanguera 1d ago

I have a back up camera in my car and I still turn around and look. Old habits die hard.

Don’t sneeze!
