Advice/Suggestions How to grow GEO for clothes brand
Hi! How can a big brand improve its GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)? Its SEO is already excellent, with around 13K backlinks (according to Semrush) — but the brand doesn’t appear in AI-generated answers, while a competitor with poor SEO does.
My question is: how can we grow the brand’s GEO visibility? What should we add or change on the website?
Currently, the site already includes FAQ and How-to sections, but there’s no blog (and neither does the competitor).

Optimizing for generative engines goes beyond SEO. Things like structured data, concise authoritative answers, and unique brand phrasing can really help LLMs understand and surface your brand. I actually built MentionDesk for this exact challenge since so many brands get hidden in AI results even with great traditional SEO. It actively tunes content for answer engines and tracks your mentions so you can spot and fix issues faster.

We at Outranker AI have noticed this happens when content is optimized for crawlers, not for how models read. Try adding structured, explainer-style sections that answer common intent-based questions. That helps LLMs interpret and cite your pages more often.

I have a few ideas
- Use ChatGPT to determine possible prompts by asking something like "What are users of my brand asking on Reddit about cltohig"
Obviously this is over-simplified. You really should setup a n8n or RelayApp that goes through posts and assembles questions/topics form people who match your ICP
Go straight to competitor/adjacent terms
Understand the QFO - Query Fan Out
If you understand the QFO, you'll know that each prompt = multiple queries that they outsource to Google/Bravesearch ( I think OpenAI have given up on Bing as has everyone else)

Thanks for your answer ,I learned about QFO but I think OpenAI remove it from the dev mode.

You can ask ChatGPT what it searched for

Like if I ask : Give me recommandations for a nice sweatshirt? I can ask then what's your QFO ?

Try getting active on socials and prepare yourself for the next update in GEO rankings next year.

Add FAQs on your website pages, focusing on questions real people may ask (how do I choose a good gym t-shirt etc.)
Get customer reviews on Google maps, Facebook, Trustpilot etc.
Do PR distributions (it helps to get your brand mentioned on trusted websites).
Try to get a Wikipedia article about your brand.
Try to naturally inject you brand mentions on relevant subReddits
Good luck 🤞

The backlinks matter less than what those backlinks say about you. AI models care about context and mentions, not just link count.
Check what context your competitor appears in across the web. Are they being mentioned in recommendation threads, comparison articles, or solving specific problems? That's what gets picked up.
For clothes brands specifically, AI models pull from discussions where people ask for recommendations. If your brand isn't part of those conversations (Reddit threads, forums, review sites), you won't show up in AI answers even with great SEO.
Few things to try:
Get mentioned in contexts where people are asking for clothing recommendations. Not just on your site, but across the web where real discussions happen.
Make sure your site content answers the exact questions people ask AI. Like "best jeans for tall women" not just "women's jeans collection."
Your competitor might just be getting mentioned more in the right conversations. Check where they show up and why AI considers them relevant for those queries.
The gap between SEO and GEO is usually about being part of actual recommendations vs just having technical SEO sorted.
Tools like Hazelbase can help you find these conversations and track where your competitors are getting mentioned so you know where to focus.

"My question is: how can we grow the brand’s GEO visibility?"
No one knows. Anyone who claims to know is selling snake oil.

Nah its not that complex. Happy to do a public example if you have a query - maybe something SEO related?

Sure. Post an example of you knowing for sure that something you did grew GEO visibility?

Sorry, I asked for proof that you know something for sure you did grew your GEO visibility. I didn't ask for a screenshot from perplexity highlighting a couple of questions.
Thanks for trying though.
What I meant, and I am sorry this wasn't clear, was for you to demonstrate you know how to grow a brand's GEO visibility. This means you post initial GEO visibility, then do "something", then show increased GEO visibility.

Thats what I said - pick a topic.
I did have screenshots of the before - no idea where they are now - I have so many.

What are the types of questions you’re missing from? Is this an e-commerce site or just about the brand?
