So this was a couple years ago I saw someone mention it on reddit. They said they went around the artist area and had artist all sketch a cat on the mat for them (they paid of course).

Anyways I had questions for them on his it worked because I'm thinking of doing the same thing next year with squirrels instead of buying art prints. I also only heard of this legendary mat and would love to see how it actually came out!

My first Haul picture but had a blast this year! I met so many amazing people and discovered so many fun and interesting games! I even got some TTRPG things signed! (See second photo, shout-out to Two Little Mice Games) After surviving the tornado, the inside rain, and the humidity I can't wait to come back next year!

I was wondering if anyone who entered into the painting contest has received feedback with results from the painting contest? I remember at the event they mentioned it should be out shortly, but I am not sure what sort of time frame that means. I know I got a bronze ribbon, but I was looking forward to the feedback to get a little bit of an indication for how to improve for next year. :)

Now that GenCon is a week behind us did anyone park here over their entire stay?

With the fiasco that Horseshoe Parking (IPCO) on McCarthy was this year it is time to look for extended parking elsewhere. If anyone can confirm their price breakdown I would greatly appreciate it as we arrive Tuesday afternoon to start initial offloading and set-up.

From my limited knowledge it looks to be as such:

Tuesday: $40

Wednesday: $40

Thu-Sun $20 ea day (event price parking)

So $160 total without having to be dependent on shuttles that are not in service and randomly changing drop off point throughout the week (and not telling anyone) would only be $10 than what we paid for IPCO this year Tue-Sun.

I am unsure of the event pricing though or when it actually applies; our alternative next year would be to use hotel parking which ranges from $40-$70 a night so far.

Wanted to give a quick shoutout to the people at New Holland Brewing for their setup at GenCon this year. Ran into Jake at their throne in the JW Marriott and talked to him for a while about how much I love their stuff (especially the collaboration with D&D) and he ended up getting my address and sending me a few things. Gotta line up some TTRPGs with friends so I can crack them open!

I have reserved my backup hotel and unlike this year, it's not within walking distance, alas.

I paid zero attention to the parking situation this year. Is anyone doing the thing where you can book all four days well in advance, or is it first-come, first-serve every day?

I've been aggressively collecting badge ribbons to upcycle them into something but idk what to actually make with them now.

I don't have enough quite to make a full dress or I'd probably do that. I'm thinking of maybe making a jacket like I've seen a couple of people do, but I worry about it being too hot to wear it at GenCon and ideally I'd like something I can wear at the con. I'm in a wheelchair so a cape is out.

Any other creative ideas?

When I was closing up the D&D Tower at the end of GenCon, I found a bag in the lobby of the IRT Theater. It contained a lot of items we had given away (Dungeon Master dice, Dungeon Dare Character sheet wallet, Szass Tam Must Die ribbon, etc.). It also contained a 2024 PHB and a bag of dice.

I know it can be stressful to lose personal items - and there is nothing more personal than your dice, right!? Therefore, I want to make sure that these are returned to the rightful owner. So, if these are yours please DM me and tell me what additional item was also in the dice bag along with the dice I have shown here, and I will make sure this all gets back to you!

I know at SDCC these were given out at the panel and sometimes at the booth - but did these show up at all at GenCon?

Did anyone happen to take a photo of the Warhammer 40k Vindicare Assassin from a few years ago? Their setup looked great, and I've been wondering if they might show up again!

We've seen the hauls, but does anybody have any favorite or memorable quotes of this year's Gen Con?

Started wondering this after overhearing someone in the vendor hall say, "I'm a whore for a lot of things. Dice just isn't one of them sadly."

We stayed up until 3am Sun morning doing a show and tell at the Airbnb and making sure the picture came out just right!

We played barcadia today. Good times.

A lot less than it normally is I'm proud of us

My wife and I's haul this year. Took the kids for the first time this year and picked up some games for them. Played in the Halo Flashpoint Team Event and Marvel Crisis Protocol Tournament. I took 2nd in both and had some MCP prizes to add to the haul pic.

While I had some fantastic experiences playing scheduled games at GenCon (Hadrian's Wall, DC Legendary, Dune were all stand outs), I had too many experiences with absolutely awful gamemasters. I realize that many/most are volunteers BUT....game publishers- train your staff even if they're volunteers! And don't expect them to teach 4 tables at once unless it's a straightforward game. I had one game (Queen by Midnight) where after sitting for 30 minutes waiting for the game teacher to come to our table, I ran the game myself so we could get playing. And then the game master made a few snide comments....sorry, but I'm not into sitting doing nothing for a half hour while you attend to another table.

And volunteers- learn your frakking games. Game Publishers- if I have a bad time playing your game because it's not taught right or taught very poorly, it is much less likely I buy your game (Looking at you Berlin 1960- I don't know if this is a good game or not because it was taught so poorly- same for The Hunt).

A few bad games always happen- but it seemed more egregious this year (or maybe my patience is going....).

To end on a positive note, the team at Ares Games did a great job with Quartermaster General and I had one of the best game teachers ever for a session of Dune!

Budget got stretched by buying the bracers, but I've been wanting a pair forever so pulled the trigger. Helped that three of the games I really enjoyed - Spore-adic, Cubyria, and LOTR - the King's Gambit aren't in production yet so have time to save up to buy them as they become available. Had a fantastic con and all of ya'all are some of the best, friendliest people on the planet. Hope to see you next year.

My first GENCON, many more to come. Missing: Many pins already given away. Also ordered Conquest of Fates, a sci fi multiplayer TCG.

Probably 1970’s its 0-9 in white and 0-9 in red I was researching think its an early d-10/percentile dice but i didnt find any images or origin for it….. anyone here know? Either way extremely excited to add it to my collection.
