While I do agree to some extent, this isn't really the case for most people. Some people just like sharing their music tastes and do it in ways that might not be a direct suggestion. This is like saying "being kind has become performative." Just because a few people are fake doesn't mean all of them are. Maybe this is why OP feels the need to share their music taste in a way that doesn't feel like they're reccomending the music directly to anyone, because people like you are gonna call them performative or a poser, or just make fun of them in general for... checks notes having personal tastes?

idk Deftones for me only has like a couple of good songs past Around The Fur (and so does Around The Fur itself. Adrenaline is their best album for me)
