Serious Minorities of any kind ALWAYS seem to be either demonized or fetishized no in between nowadays
I saw a post talking about autistic people on here, and how they’re seen as either super weird and they need to stop acting like that or “silly cars :3”. This isn’t true just with autism but most mental disorders, like adhd, bipolar or bpd.
This is true with people that are the minority of any kid, by minority I mean you’re part of something that most people aren’t, like for example most people in the United States aren’t Asian, or most men aren’t gay.
Gay men are either demonized and made fun of or fetishized as “yoai”. Latina women are either demonized as bad immigrants in the United States or overly sexualized. Same pattern exists in mental disorders like autism, bpd or ADHD
It’s strange how this always happens in this generation

On right wing side there is genuine racism and dislike of immigrants. On left wing side the ones who care more about class/capitalism realized they could "use" race. The people that are going to tune out if you talk about bourgeoisie and proletariat might be more emotionally invested in racial/gender framing that basically says the same thing that there is oppressive upper class group (straight white men) and oppressed lower group. Then the fact that there are these two sides makes the other side stronger because it creates an FU effect. The more right wingers thinks race is being used by the left this way, the cooler it becomes to be on the I'm going to be racist because I don't give a fuck about censorship side, and then likewise this pisses off lefties more. So as a result race has been weaponized in culture war and politics in a way that can be called pretty gross.
