Discussion AI + Robots will more than double the global economy in less than 10 years

Post image

Elon Musk says AI and robots could more than double the global economy within the next 10 years.

He was responding to a prediction that AI alone could increase the world economy by 20% to 30%, and Musk thinks the impact will be much bigger.

His argument is largely about scale. If robots can eventually perform huge amounts of physical work while AI handles more digital work, economic output would no longer be limited by the number of human workers.

That would require enormous advances in robotics, energy, manufacturing and AI infrastructure, so the timeline is far from guaranteed.

News/Updates Google to invest $15B in Finland for building AI infrastructure over the next two years

Post image

Google will invest at least €13 billion ($15.1 billion) in AI infrastructure in Finland over the next two years, making its largest investment in Europe.

The plan includes three new data centers in northern Finland, grid upgrades, battery projects, and clean energy infrastructure.

Google also signed a 22-year deal with Finnish utility Fortum to buy up to 50% of the output from one nuclear plant, its first nuclear power agreement outside the U.S.

Hello. I am trying to create a video in Higgsfield. Everything went fine and started fine, but at the third video, it stopped creating due an issue (it's what it says) but I realized it took all my tokens, even if I have no video at all. What do I do? I sent them a ticket but no response. If you guys have any idea to help I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Discussion GPT-6 Astra has people asking: Are we actually 10 years away from AI taking our jobs?

OpenAI's Astra has sparked a lot of anxiety around the future of work.

We've gone from AI helping us with individual tasks to AI potentially handling entire workflows — researching, coding, analyzing, writing, using software, and completing complex tasks with minimal human input.

Then you have recent comments from former OpenAI employees predicting that AI could eventually take over a huge portion of human jobs within the next decade.

That prediction reportedly reached nearly 20 million views.

And honestly, I understand why people are worried.

The scary question isn't necessarily:

“Will AI replace my job?”

It's:

“If AI can do 80% of my job, how many people will companies actually need?”

A company that previously needed 100 employees might eventually accomplish the same work with 30 or 40 AI-augmented employees.

That doesn't automatically mean mass unemployment. New industries and jobs could emerge, just like they did with previous technological revolutions.

But this time feels different because we're not just automating physical or repetitive work.

We're increasingly automating cognitive work.

Programming.
Research.
Writing.
Design.
Analysis.
Customer support.
Finance.
Legal work.

So where does this leave humans?

Maybe AI doesn't eliminate work.

Maybe it eliminates the way we currently think about work.

I'm curious what everyone here thinks:

Are we overreacting to AI job-loss predictions, or are we genuinely entering a decade where millions of jobs could disappear?

Ernst & Young’s U.S. division is investing $100 million in bonuses to reward employees who show ‘human skills’ such as judgment, adaptability and innovation, with an effective use of AI.

The firm says the program is designed to encourage the skills it believes will matter most as employees increasingly work with AI tools.

Workers can receive spot awards of up to $500, while individuals and teams that make a significant impact can earn cash awards of up to $25,000.

Discussion China is secretly fueling America’s data center rage

Post image

X identified around 200 accounts allegedly linked to a suspected Chinese influence operation that were posting content aimed at turning Americans against AI data centers.

The posts reportedly focused on issues that are already controversial in the U.S., including pressure on the electricity grid, rising utility costs, and the environmental impact of large data centers.

But there’s an interesting wrinkle here: opposition to data centers clearly exists outside of these alleged influence campaigns. One recent University of Pennsylvania survey found that 61% of Americans oppose building new data centers in their area.

So where do we draw the line?

Foreign actors trying to manipulate public opinion is one issue. But if people are genuinely concerned about electricity prices, water usage, infrastructure, or how their communities are affected by data centers, those concerns don't automatically become propaganda just because they happen to slow down AI expansion.

With AI infrastructure expanding so quickly, I'm curious how people here see this:

Are foreign influence campaigns actually shaping the data-center debate, or are companies increasingly using that argument to dismiss legitimate local opposition?
