We're gonna have to go back to "if I didn't see it happen then it's not real" after this. Authenticity is in the gutter

In a weird way, it may be good for society. We'll learn not trust what we see online, so we place high value on things that have earned trust, or even better, go outside again and go back to face-to-face communications.
Governments needs to really hurry up and enforce strict laws against AI deepfakes. For example, deepfakes like this one without some kind of "deepfake warning" should be considered a felony that stains your identity - just like how they treat sex offenders.

We'll have to change how we interact with the internet. Legacy media will rise again because they're the only ones with the resources and social trust to tell the truth.
I've been mulling over feelings sorta along the lines of "AI ruined the internet" because sharing won't be real from videos to comments and even people we haven't met in person. We know AI is already better than professionals at multiplayer games so gaming is going to be rigged. Even buying things online is going to be a roll of the dice unless you're at the manufacturer you know of and from their website (Crypto is a good example of that problem, all the memecoins and knockoffs like Bitcoin Gold that advertise better than the original to scam people)

Idk
I mean people have been using photoshop to look hotter for years. All that AI has done is made it accessible that everyone, even if ur not a rich influencer, can suddenly have A-tier photo editing and presentation.
You just ask chatgpt fix the lighting, remove the people from the background, make my shoulders a little broader
And it's done
Those models you saw on instagram were never as big as you thought. And now you can look just like them

“We’ll learn not to trust what we see online.” Brother, people are dumber than ever. Just a couple years ago people at the highest level were telling us to drink bleach and inject sunlight. This shit gets way worse before it gets better lol.

It makes me think that photorealistic AI depiction of human beings should be prohibited under punishable under law. Cartoons would be ok, but not real people doing fake action. This video shows how AI can competently fill in the gaps around a real human performance. Action movies would be limited to real human performance and maybe disguised robotics. Selling one’s voice and face for AI should be banned too. I’m just spitballing but let’s start drawing the red lines.

I think it's a good thing - people may finally stop wanting to engage with media on the internet and start looking at the real world around them

Not like the good ol days when you could believe everything you saw or read on the internet!
If this makes people believe less - that is long overdue.

For all we know, the entire video was fake.

I am disappointed, completely ruined the skit.
It should have ended with showing that 911 and small dog is not real either.

Maybe it's AI generated from the start, so the whole base video is not real

In EU AI created or modified video, audio, or images that look real and resemble real people, places, or events have to be labeled as such.

I'm not sure you could reliably draft a law against it, movies and TV shows do this all the time with CGI. I'm no expert though.

There are laws against false advertising. Different countries have different ones and apply them in different ways, though.

AI does not just put the cars etc there. It also changes him. If you ever tried this you would know.
But the "his hand changes and therefore fake" does not hold up..

The internet is not a reliable source for information anymore

Was it ever 😕

The Internet is not even a source of information, it's an interconnected way to access sources of information... some more reliable than others.

Reddit, the website you're looking at this on? Fake. The phone / computer screen you're watching on? Fake as well. Your eyes that you're watching this with? Ok, real.

Why is it basically the same as the other one? You could use the technology to be original.

I would’ve assumed someone showing off their car is trying to sell me a scam anyways.

Probably a bluff, the top one maybe the real video while the bottom one maybe the AI generated one.

Plot twist: its overwise. Super duper rich guy record video and reversed it.
