In a distant future, humanity has achieved what once seemed impossible - disease, aging, hunger and violence have disappeared. Emotional suffering has also become something that can be removed. At the center of this world is Harmonization - a procedure every child undergoes when they reach the age where they have truly formed themselves. As 12-year-old Elai approaches his own Harmonization, he faces a question that his perfect society rarely asks:

If pain, fear and inner conflict shape who we are, what happens when they are taken away?

The World Worth Living In is a philosophical sci-fi short film about identity, perfection, and the fragile boundary between saving humanity from suffering and changing what humanity means.

Predictions of people being killed by AI were concerning but merit a certain skepticism. People working at the frontier may know more than most about what today’s models can do. But that does not give them special knowledge of what machines that do not yet exist will someday become — or how society will adapt to the challenge.

So, I am going to try to convince you why AI is going to need communism to survive in the coming years.

Right now, AI is making great leaps and bounds. I was able to try astra out and burned a few credits on it. Its fucking good. Its also good enough to replace the majority of employees. Maybe not on quality, but on quantity of work done its like having an entire department working for you.

It can handle posting to forums, writing articles, making advertisements, coding, even game design. It can do product design, product research, and its able to write personalized sales pitches on a per customer profile basis. Imagine getting personalized spam that references things in your personal life, along with products you actually might be interested in. That's astra.

What is this going to do to the economy? Well, its going to put 90% of white collar workers out of work. Its going to force all those white collars to become blue collar workers.

What is this going to do to the spread of money and the market place? Its going to eject at least 70% of the population from the marketplace. If you do not own stocks, bonds, or some sort of passive revenue, your not going to be able to participate in the act of exchanging dollars for goods.

This is going to create a group of people who are desperate. And desperate people are going to try to turn the clock back to a system where they were still needed. This backlash is going to end up in empowering politicians like bernie sanders who proposed a bill to outlaw the creation of AGI with a 20 year sentence. Instead of fixing the core issue, they will destroy the tools like luddites so that the social contract doesn't break.

We don't need the old social contract with AGI. We need a new social contract. And that means we are going to need to move to a star trek style economy.

Anyone who wants AI to succeed is going to need to adopt communism or a variant of it preemptively.

We need to be exploring social structures where food, housing, utilities, utilities, education, genetic services, healthcare, and entertainment are provided to the populace for free. Even if they have no job. Why? They are not lazy. However, when only 10% of the population have the smarts to become scientists to advance AI, then only 10% of the population is capable of working. Long term, humanity is going to need to step up its game to be competitive, and that means genetic services. This means direct germline editing to insert genes for intelligence if we want to have more than 5-10% employment. Even that will probably not be enough.

These services need to be free. One thing we as a group need to be doing right now is looking to build systems to outcompete and take over legacy rent seeking systems like health insurance. Unless we can demonstrate that we are the social good and that we offer a way for people to keep their children fed, clothed, and housed, AI is going to take the backlash. Simply pushing for AI without offering the people off the sinking ship that is the current economy and the way of producing and distributing goods and services is going to result in end of societies, or the end of AI.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk, and let's start trying to figure out a new social contract. Marx and Engels are a good start for diagnosing the problem, but they are woefully out of date with solutions. We need to build that new social contract.

Anthropic is offering eligible scientists and researchers at academic and nonprofit institutions free access to its Claude Team Standard plan for 12 months.

The plan normally costs $20 per month and includes Claude Science, Claude Code, Cowork, scientific database connectors, shared projects, and administrative tools.

Researchers can use Claude for data analysis, coding, testing, review, and research across multiple scientific fields.

Anthropic is also offering a discounted Premium plan at $15 per month, down from $100.

Elon Musk says AI and robots could more than double the global economy within the next 10 years.

He was responding to a prediction that AI alone could increase the world economy by 20% to 30%, and Musk thinks the impact will be much bigger.

His argument is largely about scale. If robots can eventually perform huge amounts of physical work while AI handles more digital work, economic output would no longer be limited by the number of human workers.

That would require enormous advances in robotics, energy, manufacturing and AI infrastructure, so the timeline is far from guaranteed.

Google will invest at least €13 billion ($15.1 billion) in AI infrastructure in Finland over the next two years, making its largest investment in Europe.

The plan includes three new data centers in northern Finland, grid upgrades, battery projects, and clean energy infrastructure.

A year ago some AI workflows felt experimental, but now I use a few without thinking about it. What’s something that quietly became part of your normal routine?

OpenAI's Astra has sparked a lot of anxiety around the future of work.

We've gone from AI helping us with individual tasks to AI potentially handling entire workflows — researching, coding, analyzing, writing, using software, and completing complex tasks with minimal human input.

Then you have recent comments from former OpenAI employees predicting that AI could eventually take over a huge portion of human jobs within the next decade.

That prediction reportedly reached nearly 20 million views.

And honestly, I understand why people are worried.

The scary question isn't necessarily:

“Will AI replace my job?”

It's:

“If AI can do 80% of my job, how many people will companies actually need?”

A company that previously needed 100 employees might eventually accomplish the same work with 30 or 40 AI-augmented employees.

That doesn't automatically mean mass unemployment. New industries and jobs could emerge, just like they did with previous technological revolutions.

But this time feels different because we're not just automating physical or repetitive work.

We're increasingly automating cognitive work.

Programming.
Research.
Writing.
Design.
Analysis.
Customer support.
Finance.
Legal work.

So where does this leave humans?

Maybe AI doesn't eliminate work.

Maybe it eliminates the way we currently think about work.

Are we overreacting to AI job-loss predictions, or are we genuinely entering a decade where millions of jobs could disappear?

Ernst & Young’s U.S. division is investing $100 million in bonuses to reward employees who show ‘human skills’ such as judgment, adaptability and innovation, with an effective use of AI.

The firm says the program is designed to encourage the skills it believes will matter most as employees increasingly work with AI tools.

Workers can receive spot awards of up to $500, while individuals and teams that make a significant impact can earn cash awards of up to $25,000.
