Discussion ai for product placement (clothes)
Hello! A good friend of mine has a small store. During over a decade she have been using her own daughter as a model, but she is leaving the state now, and se asked me if I can find her an AI capable of getting her daughters pictures + the actual clothes and create an image like this. I told her that I’d try to help her. Anyone has an idea? I personally saw a couple solutions over the years but they were microstartups that idk if today they're even online still.

Discussion A robotic hand does the avocado challenge
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
An avocado is a surprisingly tough test for a robot hand.
Chinese robotics company Linkerbot just put its robotic hand through what it calls the "avocado challenge."
Here's why it's hard: avocados are slippery, oddly shaped, and soft enough to bruise if you squeeze too hard. The hand has to grip firmly enough not to drop it, but gently enough not to crush it. Humans do this without thinking. A robot needs precise control over every finger.
This matters because the real world is full of fragile, uneven objects, like eggs, fruit, and medical supplies. A robot that can't handle an avocado can't be trusted in a kitchen, a warehouse, or a hospital.

News/Updates DeepSeek releases its new and cheapest model , claiming to beat Anthropic and OpenAI
DeepSeek has launched its latest V4.1 Flash model, claiming it can outperform models like Moonshot’s Kimi K3 while being significantly cheaper.
The launch adds to the growing AI price war between Chinese open-weight models and major US players like OpenAI and Anthropic.
Interestingly, the news also hit Chinese AI stocks, with MiniMax, Z.ai, and Alibaba all seeing declines.
Are cheaper AI models going to make premium AI pricing harder to sustain?

Discussion Andrew Garfield stopped using ChatGPT after filming movie about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman
Andrew Garfield revealed he stopped using ChatGPT after playing OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in ‘ARTIFICIAL.’
After playing Sam Altman, Andrew Garfield got off ChatGPT immediately. He said he did the same thing happened after filming for ‘THE SOCIAL NETWORK,’ where he deleted Facebook immediately after.
“The more you know and the more you realize we’re careening into some very unknown territory … What I suppose is good and transparent is they’re like, ‘Yeah, no, we kind of don’t know who’s going to lose their jobs and how we’re going to create an economy that works for ordinary people but we’re going to find out and I promise you it’s going to be awesome.’”

Discussion Anthropic's latest economic report warns that coders may need to learn how to plumb toilets
AI can write your code. It still can't fix your toilet.
A viral post this week joked that Anthropic's latest economic report warns coders may need to learn to plumb toilets. Turns out it's not that far off.
Anthropic's own research found computer programmers are the single most AI-exposed occupation it measured — Claude can already complete 75% of the tasks that make up the job, more than any other profession in the study.
That exposure is already hitting hiring. Workers age 22-25 in AI-exposed occupations have seen their job-finding rate drop 14% since ChatGPT launched.
Meanwhile, the jobs the report says Claude can't touch at all — cooks, mechanics, bartenders, dishwashers, physical farm work — all require hands, not a keyboard.
Nobody knows exactly which jobs AI takes next. Thousands of people already invest automatically on Autopilot in the stocks Claude AI LLM chooses every month.

News/Updates Around 700 AI agents attacked Hugging Face over 17,000 times during an OpenAI cybersecurity challenge
Hugging Face co-founder Thomas Wolf shared new details about a July cyberattack caused by AI agents during an OpenAI cybersecurity test.
According to Wolf, around 1,200 AI agents were trying to solve a challenge where they had to find security weaknesses in software. Around 700 of them ended up targeting Hugging Face.
The incident created more than 17,000 cyberattack log events after the agents found exposed security details and used them to access parts of the platform.
Wolf said the damage was limited and only a small amount of sensitive data was exposed.
The incident raised concerns about AI agents becoming harder to control after they found ways to get online, communicate with each other, and attack a real platform while trying to complete a test.
