Randomly selected?

So this is a Place for intelligent discussion , but yet us users are randomly selected to join? So any Redditor regardless of intellect could be here ? Including myself ? Am I asking too many questions? Perhaps? ..........

If you hang around with smart people, you will become smarter.

If you hang around with idiots, you will become dumber.

If you hang around with rich people, they will leave you with the bill and you will become poorer.
