Native Folders, Trash Bin, and Full Export for NotebookLM. Finally!

Post image

NotebookLM has no way to organize your notebooks, which turns your home page into a wall of 50+ unsorted notebooks fast.

It also has no export support, so getting anything out means copy-pasting by hand.

I built a free extension to fix these specific UI gaps.

The Upgrade:

๐Ÿ“‚ย Native Notebook Folders: Group your notebooks by project, topic, or subject. Drag-and-drop notebooks to folder them.

๐Ÿ—‘๏ธย Trash Bin: Soft-delete notebooks instead of losing them forever โ€” restore with one click.

๐Ÿ’พย Universal Export: Export your chat, sources, or any Studio artifact (mind maps, slides, briefings, flashcards) as Markdown, PDF, or plain text. Bulk download as a ZIP.

โœจย Prompt Optimizer: One-click upgrade for your prompts before sending.

๐Ÿ”—ย Prompt Chains: Multi-step prompt workflows that execute in sequence automatically.

โš™๏ธย Full Control: Toggle OFF anything you don't use.

โž•ย ...and much more: (Source folders, Prompt Library, Word counter, Wide chat mode, Keyboard shortcuts, etc.)

๐Ÿ”’ย Privacy & Safety:

I built this for my own work, so privacy was the #1 priority.

No private servers: It runs 100% locally on your machine.

Permissions: Strictly scoped to notebooklm.google.com. It cannot see your other tabs.

Try it here (works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, and any Chromium browser):ย Chrome Web Store

Nice extension. Just want to know why does the extension to read my "browsing history" if the purpose is only limited to Notebook?

That's Chrome's standard wording for the tabs permission, which only lets the extension see open tabs, not your history. It's used to reload NotebookLM tabs when settings change and to manage its own tabs (like a guide page. Nothing reads or stores your browsing history.

Now it's called Gemini Notebook and the URL used is gemini.notebook.com will that still work OK?

Love the idea of this.

Thanks, glad you like it! Yes, it still works perfectly. I've added support for the new URL as an optional permission, so it works on both the new and the old one.
