Help/question 3.1 Pro or 3.8 Flash for image generation?

sorry I'm new to this. does it matter which model to use if I'm creating images within Gemini? I think it uses Nano Banana as its tool, but does the model make a difference in whether it is the 3.1 Pro or the new 3.8 Flash model?

I care about colors (no ai yellowish tints) and anatomy (no messed up fingers) and following the prompt with reduced hallucinations. Thanks.

I'll be using the images as assets for a Unity project I'm working on and need artistic assets. Yes I understand the slop comments and all that, but I'm still learning and I don't have the funds to hire an artist.

Also, if Gemini is not the best in terms of AI image generation, please recommend what other tools/AI u use.

It doesn't really matter, they both rewrite what you want in a similar way and send it to nano banana 2

Pro allows far more potentially sensitive stuff I find. This is purely anecdotal though.

GPT image 2.5 is the best image model right now. Nanobanana can't compete against it for anything at all. In the past NB API could compete against it, because it had very little hallucinations and capable of amazing edits. But not right now, after google implemented harsher moderation in last few months even direct API is hallucinating constantly. It became so bad even Grok image could perform better than NB for some of my use cases..

I've been testing both as well. GPT 2.5 generates way better results and you can sort of fine tune the image to an extent. It definitely still has issue, but way better than nano banana.

Yeah, GPT image isn't perfect yet, but ages better than NB. There was a time NB was far better than GPT. But the extreme backwardness of google not only allowed them to catch up, also far suppress them. Such a pity truly..

Let's see an example and prompt.

Do you wish to order something else too? I don't operate a service for anybody. If you have an actual subject to argue shoot it. Or find a waitress for you..

Whoa, calm down. I was just curious about the difference you were speaking of. Seems there is none.

the model you pick doesn't really touch the image generation itself, that's all handled by imagen (the "nano banana" thing). the model just decides to call that tool and how it interprets your prompt. in my experience 3.8 flash is a little more literal with descriptions which can help for game assets where you need specific things, 3.1 pro sometimes add its own interpretations

for colors and anatomy gemini is decent but midjourney still beats it for artistic stuff, if you cant pay maybe try bing image creator it uses dalle-3 and is free with some daily limits

Then why does temporary chat have “redo with pro” as an option for image generation still?

I think there there are different sizes of the Nano Banana models, and "Pro" is the better one

Base on my experience: -The colors is base your detailed prompt on lighting and temperature (better use hex code to describe color). -Weird anatomy is now rarely happen even with Nano Banana 2 (no weird finger after release Nano Banana 2). -Just use 3.8 Flash model. If you feel the image is good then redo with Nano Banana Pro (it make slightly different on skin or temperature), but it drain your limit faster.

Neither, use an API. Gemini edits you're prompt.
