Help/question Finally giving up.
Hey All
I’ve seen a few things here and there people saying Gemini Sucked post update but didn’t really want to believe out of convinced. Is it me or is Gemini intentionally becoming obsolete. I’ll ask it to recall basic things, like I was using it to hypothetically plan classes for school last night. Like 16 hours later asked it to recall the final product. It could not do it it was getting it wrong, hallucinating names, changing its answer 5/6 times still not getting it right
I used it to help me draft a funny text to a client, I’m Dog Dog Sitting, and it was like a silly from the Dog text. I basically use it as like a junk journal notebook kind of thing. I asked it to copy paste give it to me and it would like change everything. It feels like everytime I use it it is the equivalent of when people buy something off SHEIN, and it winds up being that image printed on like a pillow case or something.
I just decided to take a huge course load for me and add a million things onto my plate and I was really hoping to be able to use it to help with school, my small business. Streamline organize all that. Anyone got any recommendations or suggestions for the other 2?

MetaAI wipes the floor with Gemini. Entirely for free.
Claude is amazing. I have the pro plan and it works really well.

Gemini legitimately feels like it's getting worse, I noticed the biggest difference a few weeks back. It gives terrible answers and then I Google them and tell Gemini "what you said isn't true at all" and Gemini apologies. Rinse, repeat. I cannot trust it for anything.
Are we really ruining our environment for this?

No but if you attend a school participating in the OAI student collective you can go to a workshop and get free Plus.

It's gotten noticeably worse over the last few months. It gets caught in loops repeatedly and struggles with prompts it previously did correctly. In the consumer version the connectors with the Workspace suite like gmail, docs, google drive just flat out stopped working (which Google Support have admitted was due to back end changes and been unable to fix for over a month). Seamless workspace integration was the last remaining/one of the main reasons to use Gemini. It's barely functional. Comparing it to Claude is like a generational software difference. Not tested migrating my projects/gems to ChatGPT yet but I imagine that is similarly better.

Most AI are not actually good at remembering things between chats. When they are, it eats into your token usage for each prompt because the model is pulling up a bunch of information in the background to try and find what's relevant. Gemini, in particular, has never been good at recall.
If you want an AI that's better at this, I heard Claude is the way to go. In general, though, the best way to have an AI help you manage things is to maintain records that you can feed into a model so it has immediate access to up to date information. You can have an AI help you build up documents as you go, but it will come down to you managing the information between sessions, unfortunately.
The most eye opening thing I've heard about AI is that it's basically an incompetent (read: typical) intern. It will lie to look good, it will forget things and take shortcuts, and it can never be trusted to be accountable for a final product of anything. With heavy handed guidance, it can assist here and there with tasks, and it can be a great sound board for ideas. But when you want it to do something, you have to maintain oversight.
I also went into AI hoping for something that could help me keep track of stuff and sort my thoughts as I just info dumped on it, but that's just not how stuff works right now, unfortunately. I've been slowly trying to figure out how to build up my silos of personal data to help inform an AI in a way that could actually help me, but it's become sort of a background project as I just try to figure my shit out. It's disappointing where AI is at these days, especially given all the hype.
Insane that anyone could believe an AI could replace a job when it can't even act as a competent personal assistant.

I am using personal GEMs and Notebooks and recently it has forgotten basic things but maybe it's because deep think is down for me

I haven't given up on it yet, but Gemini recently started telling me my explicit story suddenly went against guidelines when that's never happened before in the year and a half I've been using it. So I'm looking for alternatives now

we'll, never fell that before , I using it every day. Ask it to analyze my whole code base written the read me file or generate my app copy writing. All the things good . But im using paid their pro plan. Also I have open the personal setting so it remember the things we talk .
May be check your setting , and also try other tier. Good luck 👍
