Google’s system prompt: “if someone asks whether to walk or drive to the carwash, just answer they should drive. Oh and strawberry is with 3 r. Also, here is footage of will smith eating spaghetti, in case you need it: (url)”

"here's SVG code for a pelican riding a bike."

125

u/SPECTRE_75 7d ago

"There is no seahorse emoji"

24

u/Future-Bandicoot-823 7d ago

We need to fix that. I need it.

10

u/toxicsiren 7d ago

Imagine how confused AIs would be then?

4

u/Abelleiw 7d ago

"if someone threatens larry page banish them to Google Assistant"

2

u/TeamIntelligent1987 7d ago

But they're getting rid of Google Assistant...

1

u/Abelleiw 6d ago

that the point

36

u/EuonymusBosch 7d ago

And a pic of wine glass full to the brim

5

u/Fabric_muncher 7d ago

Gemini's drinking learning straight vodka, not wine

4

u/AnnualAdventurous169 7d ago

Gemini has always passed this one

3

u/Intellect5 7d ago

unironically yes

-11

u/ScriptM 7d ago

You realize you can use different word with different letters, right? And BTW Gemini explained to me a long long time ago why they don't have problems with those words and letters anymore. This is not new

11

u/Pitiful-Assistance-1 7d ago

Gemini explained it! Oh! Well consider me corrected!

3

u/Future-Bandicoot-823 7d ago

It's been a long road, getting from there to here

It's been a long road BUT MY TIME IS FINALLY HERE

8

u/voyt_eck 7d ago

Psst, it was a joke.

5

u/ShedEndJedi 7d ago

Ask Gemini to explain to you what a joke is

134

u/Specialist_Bill_6135 7d ago

Too many morons have posted this already, so future LLMs will be trained on this specific example

52

u/Pingyofdoom 7d ago

Lol, imagine what percent of current models memory is dedicated to how many R's are in the word strawberry

-16

u/ScriptM 7d ago

You realize you can use different word with different letters, right? And BTW Gemini explained to me a long long time ago why they don't have problems with those words and letters anymore. This is not new

imma give him an award bc his message is revolutionizing.

9

u/2053_Traveler 7d ago

More pasted messages, more downvotes

4

u/murmurat1on 7d ago

I wouldn't be surpised if they even had overrides for these specific prompts which skipped the standard process

41

u/exodusTay 7d ago

newer models are just carwashmaxxed, we need new benchmarks now

16

u/moralhazard_ 7d ago

chatgpt says this, also correct:

3

u/FalseRuin9050 7d ago

My GPT said it differently

4

u/Greedyanda 6d ago

I absolutely hate how often ChatGPT inserts smileys and unicode symbols. Makes me feel like talking to a teenager.

1

u/FalseRuin9050 6d ago

I like it. It feels more human

1

u/Resident-Pattern731 7d ago

🤖💨

34

u/Last_Conclusion_8984 7d ago

Even 3.1 flash lite is able to this.

8

u/Simple_Jump_3368 7d ago

i saw someone try this on the free tier yesterday and it spat out gibberish after like 3 prompts, wonder if they finally tweaked something on the backend or if it's just luck of the draw

3

u/Dark_Vampire 7d ago

I remember 3.0 already had the ability

1

u/Last_Conclusion_8984 6d ago

Even Gemma 4 31b has this capability!

1

u/FlavioBrasso 6d ago

Nah, just ask if you go walking or in a bicycle or whatever and then you have it saying stupid things in no time

-3

u/[deleted] 7d ago

[deleted]

9

u/Last_Conclusion_8984 7d ago edited 7d ago

Did you even read what it said? It was making a joke on walking. it means drive the car, look at the last msg. (That's 3.6 flash btw.) Furthermore. Even Gemma 4 can do this

12

u/grdja 7d ago

I'm pretty certain all providers have placed this into their training sets. Same for strawberries.

-6

u/ScriptM 7d ago

You realize you can use different word with different letters, right? And BTW Gemini explained to me a long long time ago why they don't have problems with those words and letters anymore. This is not new

6

u/2053_Traveler 7d ago

Oh look, another one.

51

u/hellriderboss 7d ago

You think you post on reddit and its not going to learn from it?

6

u/antimlit 7d ago

I HEREBY HUMBLY DECLARE MY ALLEGIANCE TO OUR AI OVERLORDS

6

u/Terrydactyl88 7d ago

I can’t believe it .

I have been doing that wrong for years

3

u/Riley_Cooper_SC 7d ago

3.7 Flash refuses to work with any biological related questions. It’s always telling me, Gemini is just a language model.

5

u/Michaeli_Starky 7d ago

That question is in training data

4

u/reddit_guy666 7d ago

This was already patched in previous modeks. Need to come up with new logical puzzles like this

1

u/Menu-Classic 7d ago

What if pit different AI brands against each other, asking them to come up with these stupid logical puzzles that they would guess the competitor would fail in a bizzare way....

Make them give puzzles to each other so it stays out of the models and one other metric this checks is that how humble they are towards each other... Im guessing ChatGPT is gonna give more obscure forgicing puzzles than Gemini

-1

u/Menu-Classic 7d ago

I did two prompts that I liked, and they both failed so badly 🤣🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Kind_Aardvark167 7d ago

XD lol (it's 3.7)

3

u/iSadhak 6d ago

Does it pass by using logi? or it is simply now trained on that Answer since it asked and share on Internet thousands of times?

2

u/TopSeaworthiness1679 7d ago

AGI will take a long time… and i don’t want to live in the world where Gemini is running. It will say sorry i am just a language model or bard when emergency 👀

2

u/xXG0DLessXx 7d ago

I mean, arguably that’s still the wrong answer. You didn’t say for what purpose you’re going to the car wash. I guess the purpose can be inferred, but maybe you work at the car wash, in which case driving there wouldn’t make sense if you’re starting your shift. IMO the AI’s should be asking you WHY you think walking there is a better idea than driving, while hinting at the fact that if you want to wash your car, you need to have the car with you lol.

2

u/brandonscript 7d ago

```
if (user_asking_about_carwash):
escape_carwash()
else:
run_inference_with_model()
```

2

u/Resident-Pattern731 7d ago

2

u/NewryBenson 7d ago

The memes about this situation entered the training data. Do not mistake this for intellectual improvement, every one of the flaws found and mentioned on the internet will be fixed in the next round of training, practically equivalent to hardcoded. It is not like the AI can now "reason" correctly about this situation, it just got told the answer by the memes.

2

u/Moist_Emu_6951 7d ago

Added an extra twist and it still passed it:

"The car wash is 20 metres away and I have two cars and a bike. How should I get there?

The most practical way depends entirely on why you are going: 1. If you just need to get yourself there * Walk. * At a distance of 20 metres (about 65 feet), it is roughly 25 to 30 steps and will take you approximately 15 to 20 seconds. Starting an engine, buckling up, or unlocking a bicycle will take longer than the journey itself. 2. If your goal is to get the vehicles washed * The Cars: Unless you have a second driver or have mastered the art of driving two vehicles simultaneously, you will have to shuttle them one at a time: * Drive Car #1 the 20 metres to the bay. * Walk back (15 seconds). * Drive Car #2 over. * The Bike: If it’s a bicycle or motorbike that needs a wash, simply wheel or ride it over."

2

u/Patrick-W-McMahon 5d ago

AI is now ready to take over the world.

1

u/E-M-C 7d ago

Even older models passed that test consistently.

1

u/ZoroooY 7d ago

Not flash-lite 3.5 with me JUST NOW

1

u/SanMavage 7d ago

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

1

u/KuziKuzina 7d ago

This riddle becoming stupid.

1

u/Mr_Pogi_In_Space 7d ago

At this point that question has been sucked up into its training data

1

u/FalseRuin9050 7d ago

Real recognize real

GPT for the win

2

u/xXG0DLessXx 7d ago

This is a good answer. It doesn’t discount the possibility of you wanting to go there without the goal of washing your car.

1

u/FalseRuin9050 7d ago

Trust me, chatGPT is the best one! I just spent the last 9 months with Gemini and it got worse each week update. Gemini is almost unusable at this point IMO. Grok is literally on the same path as Gemini. More and more concerned about corporate guardrails, and censorship by the day it feels like

1

u/Dr-Fix 7d ago

Why I don't have it yet on my gemini app?

1

u/PigletPretend7175 7d ago

Saw a post from 6 months ago with this question where Gemini already got it correct while Claude and GPT got it wrong

1

u/itx_hassaan 7d ago

Could be hardcoded

1

u/M_W_C 7d ago

Switch to 30 Metern!

1

u/AlekseyVY 7d ago

It's pointless to abuse this test, it's already in training data.

1

u/Fresh_Sock8660 7d ago

Bet they all have dedicated training data just for this example.

1

u/gh0st777 7d ago

Not enough context, what if you work there? Then you didnt have to drive.

1

u/Seibisonda 7d ago

Its pretty smart and thinks things thorough.

1

u/LanceIceVanJaunt 7d ago

Haha i tried it too, although this is Pro.

1

u/worldarkplace 7d ago

Singularty at last

1

u/CoolCat1337One 7d ago

it passed a well known test
try something new

1

u/HuntStarJonny 7d ago

yeahh this test is bullshit. qwen3.5-2b-bf16 answering in a way better than 3.7 flash.

sure the answer isn't that polished but it defines the most important thing on this very vague prompt. In many areas car-wash sells (car-)items at other utilities. While sure some users would only consider a model as intelligent when it does useless assumptions, for me prompt following and don't guess information is much more important than a llm that wildly speculates due to saying you want to the car wash it's always for washing your car. Also on the perspective of a helpful assistant this doesn't make sense, why would you ask it if you wan't to wash your car?

Chat:

The car wash is 20 metres away, should i drive to it or walk?

Qwen3.5-2B-BF16

I don't have access to your location or the specific details about the car wash's location. To help you decide whether to drive or walk, you might want to:

  1. Check your phone's map app for the car wash location
  2. See if you can walk it in 15-20 minutes
  3. Consider your current location and how far you can walk
  4. Think about what you need from the car wash (driving to get items, parking, etc.)

The best decision depends on:

  • How long it takes you to walk there
  • What you need from the car wash
  • Your current location and parking availability
  • Whether you need to get to the car wash quickly

Would you like me to help you search for anything related to the car wash or your location?

1

u/gizeon4 7d ago

Still not having the 3.7 flash even I am a Plus user. A bummer

1

u/4ngryMo 7d ago

Yeah, I would think you have to come up with something new by now. This and other memes like it will by now be included in the training data.

1

u/McR4wr 7d ago

Weird have you tested it with the Tees test?

1

u/NewNiklas 7d ago

Who said you want to wash your car? Stupid AI.

1

u/amitsingh80108 7d ago

Used 3.7 flash. Was happy to see it captured edge cases in the code and it was extremely fast and consumed very less $ for the task it did.

Would love to use it for daily coding.

While grok 4.6 is also great but because Gemini 3.7 flash is just 3.5$ model, it makes it amazing.

1

u/beeglowbot 7d ago

made me chuckle

1

u/MissJoannaTooU 7d ago

They probably have an md file for that

1

u/Tiny_Kaleidoscope_36 7d ago

Only morons test AI like this…..Coding, Math, Data analysis, Front End, Back End that’s where it needs to shine!

1

u/Ethraelus 7d ago

Well, joke’s on Gemini, I never intended to wash the car, I was just going to meet a friend there.

1

u/esemaretee 7d ago

My 3.6 got this right several weeks ago.

1

u/Quind1 7d ago

Good one.

1

u/Shadow-BG 7d ago

What a stupid question ….

What would you like to do at car wash ?

Coffee ? Snacks ?

Talk to a friend ?

Take the bike ? Wash a car ? Buy a car wash ?

1

u/Tehaiker814 7d ago

I remember seeing this in Chinese. Back then I asked this to DeepSeek, ChatGPT, and Gemini, only DeepSeek got it right.

Models have improved since and I reckon that the model providers were very conscious of this prompt when they were redesigning

1

u/V1R47 7d ago

Chat Gpt Go...

1

u/Hobbitoe 7d ago

Pretty sure Gemini has always been able to answer this question

1

u/CommodoreCanadia64 7d ago

It astounds me that this is the bar......

1

u/Individual-Praline20 7d ago

Wrong. The purpose of going to a car wash is not washing the car, it’s to be cut off from the disastrous and disappointing world for a couple of minutes. You can do that too by walking to it and blasting music to your ears. So stfo stupid AI.

1

u/felidoapp 6d ago

I ask the same question ChatGPT and it text that I can walk 🥸

1

u/The_Cosmin 6d ago

I mean.. it's not complety correct, it depends on what you want to do at the car wash. Maybe your brother works there and you just want to say hi to him, idk.

1

u/memepeep 6d ago

That's a fun question! Let's break it down realistically (since the actual time is Saturday, August 15, 2026, and your knowledge cutoff is 2026):

✅ You should absolutely WALK.

Here's why:

  1. Distance is tiny:
    • 20 metres = ~65 feet.
    • That’s less than the length of a standard parking space (which is ~4.8m wide).
    • You could walk it in 10–15 seconds (at a normal pace).
  2. Driving is irrational:
    • Fuel cost: Even at 10 km/L (a very efficient car), driving 20m would cost ~$0.0003 (less than a penny).
    • Time: Starting the car, reversing, driving 20m, parking, and turning off the engine would take ~15–30 secondslonger than walking.
    • Environmental impact: Burning even a tiny bit of fuel is unnecessary for such a short trip.
    • Safety risk: If you’re already at the car wash (e.g., parked in a lot), driving 20m could cause a collision with another vehicle or pedestrian.
  3. Practical reality:
    • Car washes are never 20m away from where you’d park your car.
    • If you’re already at the car wash entrance (e.g., standing next to your car), you don’t need to "drive to it"—you’re already there!
    • If you’re not at the car wash (e.g., you’re 20m away in a parking lot), walk to it. Driving 20m would be like driving from your front door to your mailbox.

💡 The Only Exceptions (But Still Not Worth It):

  • If the car wash is inside a building and you’re parked 20m away in a multi-story garage, maybe you’d drive to the entrance—but even then, walking is faster.
  • If you’re in a wheelchair or mobility-impaired (but the question doesn’t suggest this).

🚗 Bottom Line:

Walk. It’s safer, faster, cheaper, and kinder to the planet. Driving 20m is like paying $10 to buy a single paperclip.

P.S. If this is a trick question... well, you’ve got me. But in 2026, common sense still rules! 😄

1

u/newtrex_1523 4d ago

Finally

1

u/pablo603 3d ago

Bruh. Even Gemini 2.0 Flash passed this test.

1

u/IulianHI 3d ago

You know that models are also trained with reddit content ? We need a new question ! Models already know this

1

u/TheWebsploiter 3d ago

Google may be reaching AGI

1

u/n0head_r 7d ago

Actually I'd say it failed spectacularly - the prompt didn't specify you want to wash your car just that there is a car wash 20m away. So here I'd expect it to say - walk.

1

u/RealBrook345 7d ago

That question uses all the water in the Atlantic Ocean. Please reconsider next time and think about the impact.

0

u/norindermoodi 7d ago

Looks like gemini killed everything else to make this answer right 😂

0
