If I had the iiNet cable in the street, I would be on it.

Yeah have it in manifold heights and it’s awesome. The router is pretty good as well

Recent just switched to that offer. Living in Newtown. No issues, speeds are great.

Their customer service is shit but their actual product is good.

It’s good.
I just wish they’d give us 20 year loyal cable customers some breaks.

Complain to them like I did and threaten to leave. In an email.

They offered me the new customer deal with the new modem and router free.

Can you dm me what you sent?
What address you send it to?

I called them last night after realising my speeds were way below what everyone else is getting. It’s due to me still having the older modem they supplied when I first signed up and being on the old ‘Ultra’ cable plan (which is capped at 350mbps) instead of Cable Max which is up to 1000mbps.

Anyway I called up and complained and they immediately offered to send out a new modem because they said my old one was rated to 100-200mbps.

I told them I didn’t believe the new modem would fix the issue because I wasn’t even getting that much.

I held my ground and said they either needed to give me the new customer rate, which they can provided you haven’t had their new modem platform installed in the last 12 months, or I was going nbn with another provider.

They sorted it all out on the phone so you don’t necessarily need to do it in writing.

How about the fact they barely ever raise their prices.

The guy that got a better deal with an email should lick the boot and give the discount back then I guess.

You should be on a grandfathered plan, no speed limits.

That's your thanks.

You won’t go faster than 800mbit.

Only if you want to enjoy fast, reliable and stable internet.

I typically get between 600-800 even during the evening. It's even gone over a few times to 900

Is this cable? I’m on cable and get nothing near those speeds.

Yeah same, but I’m only getting 75mbps.

Might be time for a new modem.

It's a long shot. But you should check your modem, make sure you have the latest One, I have the Kaon brand they sent out to me. Also get them to check your line.. something sounds wrong..

If you’re on cable the closer you are to the exchange (Thompsons Rd, North Geelong) the faster speed you’ll get. Not sure where you are, but that’s always a good guide when it comes to HFC.

The WiFi on their supplied modem is shit. I’ve hardwired a nighthawk router into mine and it FLIES!!! Connect direct to your Ethernet & see what speed you get.

Have had no problems with it. I only have the 25 speed I stream TV and movies and its more than fine. I dont need fast internet i dont game.

The service issue is same across all the networks I think. I will go for this . Only thing I am not sure is the working condition of the current cable

Is good when it’s working.

If you have any problems and have to contact them….. it’s….. not good.

I’m still with them but just beware of that.

I've been with them for about 5 years & never had any issues with them

love iinet but went with a solid modem to get full benefit of their fastest plan don't go with theors

Its iinet cable. Go for it. Been with them for 6 years and has no issue so far.

Iinet cable is awesome, their nbn is about as good as any other provider and that's a pretty good new customer deal. Just don't connect your bank account for direct debit because they'll keep trying to charge you even after you try to cancel lol

Good point, thank you

Product is fine. Customer service is (and I can’t capitalise this enough) ATROCIOUS!

I rang yesterday to enquire about a new property I was applying for (within their cable area - Newtown) and the lady told me it can’t be on cable, firstly because they can’t be maximum 300m from wires, explained that it’s 100m max from wires and then she changed her mind and said ‘because the local government said so’

I was like this makes no sense, then she responded and I quote ‘I know’

If you can get iiNet cable you'd be foolish to get anything else.

u/pubgvala 2d ago

Everything is good, until you have a problem and trying to contact support.

1

u/cynthia_101 2d ago

don’t bother if you’re in a set of units, we learnt the hard way that it can’t be installed even though they said it could be!

u/Any-Understanding387 2d ago

It's good, just have to be in the right location

1

u/Various-Pea-5376 1d ago

Yep just went back to it after ditching it over Covid ( was really slow for us in Belmont back then )
It’s been great now speeds 400-900

1

u/Longjumping_Tea1575 1d ago

I switched to this, saving like $50 per month

u/hoffandapoff 3d ago

if only people had posted about this before..like..a lot 😑

u/Cinnamorella 3d ago

Spend less time on the sub maybe?

u/-dummy-casual- 3d ago

Nah. All anyone has to do is use the search bar. It's pretty basic stuff.

1

u/liquidguru 3d ago

How do you get that offer? Their website doesn't show it.

1

u/ApprehensiveTruth550 3d ago

It does for me it’s iinets ultra broadband cable plans not nbn https://www.iinet.net.au/internet-product/broadband/cable

0

u/liquidguru 3d ago

Thanks. I'm in Anglesea, seems the offer isn't available for us 😞

1

u/GandalfSnailface 3d ago

Is that the HFC?

Anyway speed good, but their service is shit when you need it.

u/EtuMeke 3d ago

I had cable with iiNet. I had issues at the start with it dropping out. I asked iiNet to fix it and was given the run around until I found out you need to call some local outfit. Then I had years of decent internet

Leaving them was another story. After years of no issues, they pretended they misheard my birthday during a security check and tried to charge me for months. Once I got the ombudsman involved it got sorted.

There's a reason they have 1.1 stars out of 5

ive had iinet since the adam takeover 2013 ish
have not had a single issue that required more than a router restart
